SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: Kate McCann, the mother of Madeleine McCann, the three-year-old girl who disappeared from a restaurant in Portugal in 2007, has made new revelations about the abduction. Her parents, Kate and Gerry, both now 54, believe their child is still alive. The case hit the headlines again when a 21-year-old Polish woman, Julia Wandelt, claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann.

It was recently revealed that the investigation into the Madeleine McCann case cost about $16 million. However, with Wandelt's entry into the situation, the case has now received just over $370,000 in new funding for the search. The Home Office is likely to approve a request for these funds soon, as per New York Post. Although Wandelt has become a sensation, her DNA results have revealed that she is not Madeleine. Meanwhile, a new theory from Madeleine's mother may reveal more about her abduction.

What is the new theory proposed by Kate McCann?

Madeleine went missing from her family’s holiday apartment while her parents were having dinner. According to author Robbyn Swan, who wrote 'Looking for Madeleine' in 2014, he claimed that her mother blames a reservation book for her abduction. In Kate's 2011 book, 'Madeleine: Our Daughter’s Disappearance and the continuing search for her,' Kate revealed further details. She stated that the person who took the booking wrote in the open reservation book at the restaurant’s entrance the details of their reservation. However, she realized since it was an open reservation, anyone in the hotel might have known about their child in the hotel room. Kate then said, "To my horror, I saw that, no doubt in all innocence and simply to explain why she was bending the rules a bit, the receptionist had added the reason for our request: we wanted to eat close to our apartments as we were leaving our young children alone there and checking on them intermittently. We now bitterly regret it and will do so until the end of our days.” The family is also disappointed over a Portuguese police officer, Goncalo Amaral, who initially impacted the investigation of the case in a detrimental way. Back then, the parents claimed, "We took action for one and only one reason: Mr Amaral’s unfounded claims were having a detrimental impact on the search for Madeleine. If the public believed that we were involved in her disappearance, then people would not be alert for possible clues and may not report relevant information to the relevant law enforcement agencies," reports New York Post.

'Leaving your children in hotel alone is to blame!'

The Internet had quick reactions to the theory. A user said, "It just occurred to me what the real lie was. BAM! They never checked on the kids. They just listened outside the door to make sure they didn't hear crying. This means IMO that the kidnapper took her right after the left the first time. Probably someone who noticed M when they were out as a family. Someone who worked in the hotel perhaps? But the predator was watching, and then when the McCanns left the room the first time, they went in and took her out then. The whole night she was missing. They only realized it when Kate actually went in the room to check on the kids. All the listen pops back and forth, the person never went in the room.So this throws off the whole timeline. The kidnapper was hours away by the time they realized. That's why they seem so sketchy to the police. I'm pretty sure most people agree they probably drugged the kids after the complaint about crying the night before. But the police have never had a real crime timeline because they've lied about this as well. Also why they were careless about going after a kidnapper. They knew she was long gone."

'I don't believe they killed her,' added a user (Reddit/computer says no)
'Take some accountability' added another ( Reddit/Tea in the G)

Another user added, "I don't believe they killed her either, but they were involved and they have been covering it up ever since." A user claimed,"…. Leaving your children in a hotel alone is to blame! Take some accountability for your actions ffs?" A comment read, "Maybe don't abandon your kids to go to the restaurant in the first place. Regardless of what actually happened, that's what's to blame." A comment added, "The reservation note is not to blame. The negligence of the McCanns is to blame." Another mentioned, "Exactly. They dont even acknowledge that their decision to leave the children while they go out was a bad idea. Ive not seen anything where they have addressed that. Besides , who actually looks at a reservation book. If someone was taking the trouble to look closely at the reservation book then that would mean they were scpoing it out and already will have seen them all without the kids anyway 🤦🏻‍♀️." "I have always believed that. I suspected that someone at the restaurant was involved at first but realize anyone could have read that note. While I think they were negligent in leaving their children alone, they were checking on them. Someone knew when that was happening and when not," noted another.
