Critics may call the 'Mad About You' Revival 'unnecessary' but fans say the new episodes feel like 'home'

Though not all viewers are happy about the revival. Some say they did not want the revival, while others are still annoyed with certain characters.

It is almost 2020 and the fever for all things 90s has only gone up. With high-waist jeans and chokers back in fashion, it is no surprise then that franchises like 'Bad Boys' and television shows like 'Will & Grace' made their return.

For many years, Paul Reiser -- co-creator and star of the beloved 90s sitcom, 'Mad About You' -- insisted that he will not be revisiting the lives of Paul and Jamie Buchman after the NBC sitcom ended in 1999. However, last year, a reboot was announced and fans were pleasantly surprised.

The 12-episode limited series revival was commissioned by Spectrum with the episodes available on Spectrum's On-Demand platform. The first six episodes released on November 20th while the final six episodes will be available on December 18th.

While many critics called the revival "unnecessary" and "boring", Reiser and Helen Hunt can relax as fans have been clamoring to watch the available episodes. For many, the nostalgic return -- to one of most adored television shows of the pre-2000s era -- felt like a homecoming and they can't wait for the remaining episodes.

One fan tweeted, "@madaboutyoutv I just binge-watched all 6 episodes of All-New #MadAboutYou on @SpectrumOrig On Demand. It felt like home. .@PaulReiser & @HelenHunt as an evolved Paul & Jamie never lost their chemistry. Ira, Lisa, Sylvia, Mark & even the Super made me laugh. Can't wait for 12/18." Another fan added, "@madaboutyoutv brought me to tears. Memories flooding back. I truly love Paul and Jamie. @PaulReiser and @HelenHunt are magic. #MadAboutYou."

However, not all viewers are praising the new episodes of the show. One user wrote, "Have you ever had anything shoved down your proverbial throat harder than @SpectrumOrig trying to get you to watch the #MadAboutYou reboot that literally nobody cares about?" Another viewer said, "20 years later and Jamie Buchman still manages to be the most unlikable person in the room. #MadAboutYou."

The first six episodes of the 'Mad About You' revival are now available to stream on Spectrum's On-Demand platform. The next six episodes will be released on December 18th.
