'MacGyver' Season 5 Preview: Will there be a Riley and Mac romance, or will he choose Desi?

While we know that Codex is still a threat in the series storyline, CBS's 'MacGyver' returns with Season 5 with more than just cases, but also a bit of a love triangle. Previews reveal that the beginning of Season 5 will see Phoenix owner Russ Taylor (Henry Ian Cusick) being kidnapped by Phoenix but also a hopeful Riley and Mac romance. As for right now, it seems there is a love triangle between Angus MacGyver (Lucas Till), agent Desi Nguyen (Levy Tran), and hacker Riley Davis (Tristin Mays). According to TV Line, executive producer Monica Macer said, "With Desi, there's a natural chemistry. Yet there is this lingering feeling between Mac and Riley because they've been such good friends."
In Season 4 Episode 11 'Psy-Op + Cell + Merchant + Birds' of 'MacGyver', Riley had made the decision to move out of Mac's apartment after she realized she had feelings for him. She did not want to be the one that came between him and Desi. But, many fans are waiting and hoping for a possible romance between Riley and Mac, but we don't know who Mac will choose? As a fandom, most fans have said that Desi needs to not be with Mac, if that happens, that could leave the potential for the duo that most are shipping. There are even Twitter polls running to see who Mac will end up choosing.
The truth is that we have to find out with Riley really left Mac's apartment, and is Mac and Desi were broken up. In our opinion, Riley might be a better choice for Mac, especially since his relationship with Desi is a bit rocky. Not to mention is Riley in a relationship or single? While we await Codex drama, we're getting a bit on the love triangle as well, which should keep Season 5 interesting.
The official synopsis for Season 4 reads, "Mac and the team infiltrate a glamorous hotel used as an international hideout for criminals to find a woman with vital information on Codex. However, their target has a new secret identity, including a completely new face." Watch the trailer below.
