In Season 5 Episode 6 'Quarantine + N95 + Landline + Telescope + Social Distance', the series brought in the Covid-19 storyline with the first stay-at-home order as Mac, Bozer, and Riley have to stop a crime that's ongoing in their neighbor's home. Not to mention, Russ's "romantic fling" also takes a complicated turn when they quarantine together. Unfortunately, though, there will be no new episode next week. On January 29, 2021, there will be a rebroadcast for Season 4 Episode 4 'Windmill + Acetone + Celluloid + Firing Pin', and it is only the week after that we will get a new episode of the CBS drama.
There is no specific reason released as to why there is a week-long gap when it comes to the airing of new episodes. It could be due to earlier production delays due to Covid-19 or simply that enough episodes were not filmed on time. But, on a good note, the new episode seems to be an intense one including secret cancer treatments being used for mayhem, so one week of waiting may not be too bad.
When will Season 5 Episode 7 air?
The episode is titled 'Golden Lancehead + Venom + Pole Vault + Blood + Baggage' and will premiere on Friday, February 5, 2021. The official synopsis of the episode reads, "The secret experimental cancer treatment Mac's developing with a friend is discovered when culprits ransack their lab, kidnap Mac's partner, and plan to use the research to create a powerful new nerve agent." The kidnappings this season have been the center of attention. Episode 4 saw the kidnapping of a recruitment candidate and Episode 3 even saw Russ being kidnapped, we guess that comes with the territory.

"As MacGyver works quickly to rescue survivors from a collapsed building in Germany, he discovers a new safety threat — an undetonated bomb from World War II is hidden beneath the rubble."
