Spoilers for 'MacGyver' Season 5 Episode 2
The 'MacGyver' Season 5 Episode 2 is titled 'Thief + Painting + Auction + Viro-486 + Justice' and sees the team yet on another high accuracy and delivery case. This time, the pressure might be on Desi to get through a heist before the bioweapon ends being sold to a terrorist cell. You hear the stakes in the promo when Matty Weber (Meredith Eaton) says that "millions of people will die," with Mac replying, "if we fail" to which he's hit with a blunt retort "failure is not an option."
While the premiere saw tension and resolutions between Mac and Russ and Riley and Desi — the team still managed to pull off their job. Seems to us that not only do Riley and Desi make a good team, but they also work better when they are upset with each other. The stunt scenes in the upcoming episode appear to be Desi pulling off a Tom Cruise from 'Mission: Impossible', so we're thinking the case is a bit harder than the Zurich Grand hotel hideout criminals case.
The premiere episode did play a lot on trust when it comes to the four characters. Even though the duos — Mac-Russ and Riley-Desi — were both on cases, they had to, at some point, get over the conversations that would allow them to inch close toward trusting each other, and they did. Russ and Mac had a heart-to-heart and so did Riley and Desi. Is the tension fully gone though? That we may not know as of yet. So we're hoping the second episode of the new season dives into the interpersonal relationships more. It seems that the series is heading in that direction.
The official synopsis reads of 'Thief + Painting + Auction + Viro-486 + Justice' reads, "When Taylor's former protégé is killed while preventing a bioweapon from falling into the wrong hands, Mac and the team must find the weapon so Desi can pull off the ultimate heist before it's sold to a terrorist cell."
