Lyft is investigating an alleged attempted kidnapping case of a Brooklyn customer after her harrowing claims posted by her friend went viral on Instagram. Instagram user @sofakinglegendari talked about how his friend was victimized and her Lyft driver was part of the abduction scheme.

The Brooklyn customer's friend posted on behalf of her on his Instagram account saying, "Last night, I fell asleep at my friend's house after we went out to eat. I get up around 1 am and decide I'm gonna go home because I didn't have all the things I've needed for work that day. My friend has offered to take me home but, I told them that it was okay. It was late and I would take a lyft or uber cause it's a quick ride to my house. It was also very rainy and foggy, I go down and get in the lyft."

"The driver begins the ride and all of a sudden stops (this is maybe two blocks away from where I was picked up), I text my friend and ask her if she's up, she responds yes quickly. I then ask the driver why he stops, he says 'oh nothing'. I say again, 'why did you stop?'. He doesn't respond but I see him looking at me in the mirror. All of a sudden a white van pulls up on the corner in front of the car. At that point, I decide, I have to run. I pull the lock and door handle at the same time and shove the door," the Instagram post read.

The story continued, "I start running, the van begins chasing after me. I get to the middle of the block, I decide if i keep going straight they are going to catch me. I double back and go down another block, then make a turn down another. I call my friend and I tell them their chasing me. I ended up hiding behind a huge pile of snow and black jeep. My friend comes, get me." The Brooklyn rider who took the Lyft said that they contacted the company and they got back to her saying that a specialist handles the situation. The woman claims that the company was not concerned and didn't even apologize to her.

The woman also said she couldn’t file a police report with the NYPD on the incident because she didn’t have the driver’s license plate. A Lyft spokesperson told The Post, "Safety is fundamental to Lyft, and the details described are unacceptable. We’re in touch with the rider to offer support and have deactivated the driver’s account while we investigate internally."
