'Luna Nera': Release date, plot, cast and all you need to know about the upcoming Italian fantasy series
For fans who are missing 'The Witcher' and are eagerly awaiting its next season, Netflix is releasing a new show in January that could be the perfect addition to your watchlist.
Titled 'Luna Nera', the Italian series will take viewers to the medieval period of witchcraft and tells the story of a girl accused of witchcraft in 17th-century Italy.
Release date
The first season, consisting of six episodes, will be released on Netflix on 31 January, 2020.
Plot
'Luna Nera' — translated to 'Black Moon' — follows the story of a teenage girl accused of witchcraft, following which she, along with her younger brother, flees her village.
The girl finds refuge with a group of women who all are accused of witchcraft. Just when she thought her life was going to be easier, a twist follows. Unfortunately, it is her boyfriend's father who is chasing her and trying to prosecute her for her alleged witchcraft.
The teenage girl is obliged to choose between seemingly impossible love and real destiny in a world constantly divided between reason and mysticism.

Antonia 'Nina' Fotaras
Antonia 'Nina' Fotaras is an Italian actress known for her roles in 'The Name of the Rose', 'Mentre ero via', and Don Matteo'. She plays the role of Ade, the young girl is on the run after being accused of witchcraft.
Nathan Macchioni
Nathan Macchioni is an Italian actor known for his roles in 'Le sedie di Dio', 'The Name of the Rose', and 'Shades of Truth'. He will be playing the role of Adriano. The show also stars Giorgio Belli, Manuela Mandracchia, Federica Fracassi, and Astrid Meloni.
Creator
The show was created by Francesca Manieri, Laura Paolucci, as well as Tiziana Triana of Italian producers and publishing house Fandango. Manieri previously worked on 'The Miracle', 'We Are Who We Are', and 'Dove cadono le ombre'. Paolucci previously worked on 'My Brilliant Friend' and 'Gomorrah'. Triana has also worked on 'Shadows'.
