'Lucifer' Season 5 release date leaked and deleted, fans joke Netflix 'f***ed up the announcement again'
It's such a wild ride being part of the 'Lucifer' fandom — not the devil invoking Satanists, but fans of the highly popular Netflix show that hasn't peeped a word about its greenlit and upcoming fifth season. That is until somebody from Netflix accidentally hit update on the information section under the show and genius fans spotted the release date for the highly anticipated installment surround our resident evil — Lucifer Morningstar and his quirky LA lifestyle, owning a pub and helping the police solve crimes. And even though Netflix was way too quick in fixing that error, the fandom is taking this as a win.
It is official and it is out: 'Lucifer' Season 5 is arriving this August 21 at least with the first half of the season as the second half is expected sometime in February 2021. Just two weeks ago, the cast returned to work and are expectedly shooting the latter half of Season 5. The show's star DB Woodside had also tweeted last week: "Dear Lucifans. Good things are happening. Pls continue to be patient." So fans' thrill and excitement are understandable. After almost a year of radio silence, they are finally getting a time stamp on when they can be reunited with the devil, so obviously fans had to spread a buzz loud enough to get the hashtag #Luciferseason5 trending top in the country.
It started with fans approaching the doubt cautiously, afraid that they might ask around and jinx it to Netflix going mum again. And sure, it was a brief little minute before Netflix deleted the release date update from the page, but that was enough time for fans to spread the word around with a screenshot. "Seriously @LuciferNetflix @netflix? You f***ed up the announcement again?" joked a fan as Netflix continues to surprise and amuse its viewers with fails like these that somehow always end up being a blessing in disguise. Another chimed in, noting "I’m just imagining the emails zinging around at Netflix in the last 6 hours." It must have been quite the roller coaster indeed, accidentally hitting update and then having to delete it in time. As a fan puts it, "The release date was leaked that explains why Netflix was so quiet about it."
While most fans sent abundant love, hugs, kisses and good vibes to whoever made that blunder, others were just busy doing what any Lucifan would be expected to do after the news dropped. "I'M SCREAMING IM SO READY AUGUST 21ST," a fan said on Twitter. Another shared a concerning bit of information, posting: "I am so overwhelmed by the lucifer s5 release date that I just forgot I have a chemistry exam." Another shared: "I can finally sleep with a smile on my face today." And for the rest of the fandom, this one fan had some words of solidarity to share about the very teasing piece of news dropped: "GUYS TWO MONTHS IS GOING TO PASS SO QUICKLY DON’T WORRY WE’RE GETTING ALL OF THEM BACK SO SOON ."
