Spoilers for 'Love Life'

HBO released the first three episodes of 'Love Life' on May 27, 2020, and we were taken into the dating life of Darby Carter (Anna Kendrick). First, we were introduced to Augie Jeong, then Darby's ex-boss Bradley Field (Scoot McNairy), and in the third episode, Danny. It was a journey of 'late-night talks,' jumping in bed too soon, relatable situations of a parent's death, long-distance relationships and plain old breakups.

Darby, as a character, seems to be portrayed as the 'girl-next-door' trying to make it in the Big Apple as she tries to fulfill her quest for love. Since each episode so far has been introducing us to a new man in Darby's life, we're thinking this is how the next episode will be as well. The fourth episode, titled, 'Magnus Lund', foreshadows that we are to meet Darby's next man.

We have seen Darby in a juvenile relationship with Augie, where she fell in love too soon and lost him to a career opportunity. Although in Episode 3 (three years after Augie), we see him back in New York with a new girlfriend named Emily. We're wondering if Darby will try to connect with Augie or keep him blocked on social media. Augie and his new gal are ready to make a road trip, but we're shown Darby's insecurities when she freaks out about running into him on the sidewalk, with "CROCS." Not to mention, she stalks Emily's social media, a highschool ploy. Her growth seems to have been stunted in Episode 3 as is seen when Augie comes back. The series calls for character development, we're hoping Episode 4 could bring us a relationship that seems 'adult-like' for lack of better words.

We don't know about you, but Danny of Episode 3 was probably the worst of the worst, so we're rallying for Darby to not get herself in another situation where she jumps in bed because the guy is cute. Danny seemed to mirror her crazy but not in a good way (a nice guy though) — he had two phones, one with his ex-girlfriend's Brianna's voice messages. Though Darby encouraged him to throw away that phone, his obsessive nature made Darby get into her first relationship with Augie. She went on to lie to Danny of course, "inflating" the reality of her life — when will she start to wear her 'big girl pants'? She tried to escape Danny, but then had to apologize for treating him as a 'sex robot' — we would think that Episode 4 will elaborate on that some more.

The three men we've seen in Darby's life so far didn't seem too compatible with her personality — especially Bradley, when she realized how out of place she felt when she was put in the same room as his family at Bradley's father's funeral. There's nothing wrong with her personality, per se, but she seems to try it a little too hard to always fit in — we can speculate that maybe in Episode 4 Darby finds a man that meets her crazy, for real this time. We have a lot of expectations from Magnus!

We can only wait and watch.

New episodes of 'Love Life' will be released every Thursday on HBO Max.
