The entirety of 'Love and Marriage: Hunstville' first season saw the Holts battling Martell's adulterous ways. Information surfaced about him having an affair for four long years which further worsened the situation. After a point Melody reconciled with Martell, but found it hard to let go of his mistress, who hasn't been revealed to viewers yet. The woman in question who allegedly goes by the name Arionne Curry later got in touch with Melody. She shared receipts of Martell going behind her back to stay in touch with her. Curry also said she'd keep reconnecting with her, as and when her husband would try to get together with her.

All of this led to Melody threatening divorce and that's when Martell agreed to go to therapy with her and get to a better place in their marriage. The first episode in the second season highlights the journey of the Holts towards getting better and collectively putting in the work to make their marriage work. Melody was 37 weeks in her pregnancy with their fourth child, Malani, at the time of the filming of this season and the couple's maternity photoshoot and the baby shower were documented in the first episode.

At the shoot location, Melody opens up to her hairstylist who's also a friend, Alonda about how they're making the marriage work. She said that she got to a "happy point" by being able to put space between them and use the time thinking and reflecting. She also revealed that Martell insisted on continuing to get therapy and that worked immensely in their favor. Apart from that she also revealed that they have each other's phone passcodes and social media information which guarantees complete transparency between them.

The Holts had been working on their marriage but were also dealing with their soured relationship with Marsau and LaTisha Scott. Melody was not ready for reconciliation with them yet and that's why she kept them out of her baby shower. The shower was a beautiful affair with the couple and their three children wheeling into the venue on a horse carriage. Marsau's brother Maurice and his wife, Kimmi, were present at the shower but the latter lamented about the absence of the other Scott's in a confessional. She also tried to talk to Melody about their absence at her shower but the latter brushed the conversation off, saying she'd appreciate if they could avoid talking about them.

'Love and Marriage: Huntsville' airs on Saturday nights on OWN.
