John Slater retches from Methadone after final goodbye to Lacey Whitlow, 'Love After Lockup' fans say he 'won'

John seems to be crushed from the breakup and is struggling to move on

Lacey Whitlow and John Slater were high school sweethearts once but that relationship fizzled out over years of drug use and jail time. Even though she admitted to having fun whenever they were together, Lacey was tired of him choosing heroin over her. 

However, looks like he is now in control of his vices and may have seen a doctor about that addiction. In his confessional, while addressing his goodbye letter to Lacey he complained of nausea. Moments later, he was hunched over a bin and retching, occasionally throwing up. "That's what Methadone does to you," he said.

"If you're dependent on heroin or another opioid, you may be offered a substitute drug, such as methadone," NHS writes. He's fighting drug use and it's evident. A few episodes earlier, he said he was spiraling and that usually, breaking up with Lacey causes him to go back to drugs and alcohol. To everyone's surprise, he was eating ice cream to curb addiction. Apparently, it was suggested by a medical professional that he did that every time he wanted to use drugs.  

Meanwhile, fans have weighed in with their two cents about John falling sick. Some even tweeted in the hope that someone would reach out to him with help. 

"I really hope John gets help and see if another person can make you feel that low .. it’s time to let them go like seriously #LifeAfterLockup #LoveAfterLockup," one user tweeted, another shared: "@IyanlaVanzant Please help #John fix his life. He wants to do better! Lacey is a thing bringing you misery! #LifeAfterLockup #loveafterlockup."

"Damn John, This is a blessing! Being away from that woman is probably the best thing for you. Be glad you didn't end up like Shane. That dude is going to CONSTANTLY be worried about her stepping out. You won man! #LoveAfterLockup #LifeAfterLockup," user pointed out.

"John is talking about Lacey making him emotional and making him want to use... Lacey been living her life not even thinking of this man. He really blaming his addition on a woman minding her own business #LoveAfterLockup #LifeAfterLockUp," one viewer expressed. 

'Love After Lockup' season finale ended with Lacey and John saying their goodbyes to each other. Will he return? Let's hope not especially after she made it amply clear that Shane and the kids are priority for her.
