In the present scenario, Loki and Sylvie wait for the Lamentis-1 to get destroyed because they have no chance of escaping the apocalypse. Tom Hiddleston and Sophia di Martino have terrific chemistry and it’s a joy to watch them. However, in the right nick of time, Mobius (Owen Wilson) arrives on the scene and takes them back to the TVA. Now, that’s where the things get interesting. Loki finally tells Mobius that everyone working for the TVA is a “variant” themselves and Time Keepers kidnapped them to create all this chaos.
On the other hand, Hunter B-15 (Wunmi Mosaku) meets Sylvie one on one and asks about C-20, and takes her back to the mart where she introduced herself. Sylvie tells her that she is a variant and she had a life before she was taken by TVA. She enchants her and shows her what her life looked like before TVA arrived. Elsewhere, Mobius heard what C-20 said before dying and thinks Loki was right. He meets Loki, but when he returns back to the TVA, he is welcomed by Ravonna Renslayer (Gugu Mbatha-Raw).
Ravonna knows that Mobius knows the reality and orders one of the agents to prune him. The scene will totally break you down because Mobius was one of the few people from the TVA who was likable and the friendship between him and Loki was really special. Loki’s reaction to Mobius getting pruned was absolutely heart-breaking as he knew that he just lost a friend.
Ravonna steps up the game and introduces Loki and Sylvie to the Time Keepers. Loki knows that they aren’t real and challenges them to kill him. Before anything could happen, Hunter B-15 comes and ruins Ravonna’s plan.
After an epic fight sequence among the main characters, Sylvie just kills one of the timekeepers with one strike and it seemed like the “Time Keepers Saga” is over.
But, later they realize that Time Keepers were never actually real and were just robots talking. The episode ends with Ravonna pruning Loki while trying to fight Sylvie. Sylvie takes the upper hand and was set to prune her, but stops in the middle, and asks her to tell the truth.
Episode 4 was undoubtedly the best of the show so far. It had all the ingredients of becoming one of the best episodes in Marvel TV shows. Apart from being fast-paced and thrilling, it also had a lot of emotions attached to it. The scene where Mobius tells Loki that “he can be whatever he intends to be” hits right on the money and leaves viewers teary-eyed.
This episode of ‘Loki’ was another strong showing, with the majority of it focusing on developing both Loki and Sylvie’s characters further. Also, the fact that people at the TVA are starting to know the reality about themselves, makes things really interesting for future episodes.
The high stakes also kept the viewers on the edges of their seats, with the ending leaving many with questions about where the characters go from here. And yes, the episode also has a mid-credits scene which makes you meet all the other variants of Loki, including an older version of Loki which is played by none other than Richard E. Grant.
With only two episodes remaining in the season, ‘Loki’ is turning out to be another win for Marvel and Disney+.
‘Loki’ returns with a new episode every Wednesday on Disney+.
