Although it may seem slow at the start, 'Light the Night' grips your attention with its drama and intrigue. And, at the centre of it all is the women of club Light. Each of these hostesses has their own compelling stories that play out over the first set of eight episodes. It offers fans insight into who they are, why they work at Light and what could even be their motives behind committing a heinous crime.

If you're looking for other foreign titles on Netflix, you might want to consider series such as 'Squid Games', 'The Club' and 'Hospital Playlist'.

With the death of Sue (Cheryl Yang), the mamasan (woman in charge) of Light, everyone is left with only one question -- who could have killed her? Unfortunately, leading up to her death, Sue made a few notable enemies among the people she works with. While Sue confiscates the drugs Yuri (Nikki Hsin Ying Hsieh) has been peddling and even agrees to marry Mr Nakamura, who Ah-chi (Cherry Hsieh) sees as her escape route out of Taipei and her debt, all eyes are on Aiko (Puff Kuo), as she displayed the most disturbing behaviour.

Aiko, whose real name is Ai-lien, seems to have the clearest motive among them all. She seems to be in love with, as infatuated with He Yu en (Derek Chang), her university classmate who loves Sue. While Sue and Yu en had a brief romance, Sue calls it off, as he is much younger and can't provide for her in the way she needs. Aiko has always resented her for how she treats Yu en, seeing that he is obsessed with Sue. She even goes far as to take a drunk Yu en back home with her, only for him to choke her, thinking she is Sue.

When he reveals that Sue is seeing Chiang Han, Aiko uses this to blackmail Sue. She even goes as far as to plant photos that Yu En took of the couple on Rose's table, which leads her to uncover the affair. Soon, Aiko's mother learns that she has lied about her employment and causes a scene at Light. Aiko assumes that this is Sue's doing and goes as far as to break into her house. Sue feels threatened by Aiko's presence, as she menacingly wields a flower clipper, but Mr Nakamura shows up, saving her. Aiko leaves the bar and quits university due to her mother finding out about her job as a hostess.

Yu en confronts her about leaving, but Aiko explains that she should have never challenged Sue, and now, she has nowhere to go. She even claims that she is 'sick' as Yu en had once accused her of being so when she meddled in his affairs with Sue. However, he does seem to reciprocate her feelings, as he leaves food for her, caring for her like she once did for him. Aiko has no reason to return to Light, but she does on Sue's last day at the bar, raising more questions than before, as they two never really reconciled. With Wen Cheng questioning Aiko's mother about her whereabouts, she is undoubtedly a prime suspect due to her obsession with Yu en and hatred for Sue.

'Light the Night' is all set to premiere on Friday, November 26, 2021 on Netflix. The second set of eight episodes will be available for streaming on December 3, 2021, and the final eight episodes will drop on December 10, 2021.
