'Legacies' Season 2: Will 'werewolf' Rafael get back his human form now that Hope is back?

Rafael's turn into a werewolf at the end of last season meant that he would need Hope's help in order to turn back. When Hope was stuck in Malivore, he was stuck in his wolf form. Now that Hope is back, when can we see Rafael as a human again?

There were two burning questions before the second season of The CW's 'Legacies' premiered nearly two weeks ago. The first was, what happened to Hope and the second was how and when can Rafael be turned back? We got the answer to the first question in the second season's premiere itself. Hope's plan to destroy Malivore did not work out because she wasn't a full tribrid yet -- her vampire side had not been activated. By the end of the episode, she was able to escape Malivore as the creature kept trying to expel her -- she was toxic to it. However, she came back to a world that does not remember that she exists.

In the second episode, Hope works with Alaric to defeat a monster that turned out to be a cyclops. Alaric figures out that Hope was a part of his life and by the end of the episode, she comes clean to Alaric about herself and the two decide to stick together.

Rafael is still in his wolf form in the episodes of Season 2 that have aired so far. In the first episode, we see Landon giving him company, bringing him food, spending time with him, and so on until he starts spending more time with Josie. Eventually, Landon thinks that Rafael is missing, but the werewolf is just keeping his distance from Landon. We did not get much of a mention about him in the second episode.

However, the third episode might be when Rafael is finally turned back into a human. According to the synopsis, "the latest monster to arrive in Mystic Falls sets its eyes on one of the students" and the promo shows that this monster is one that hunts werewolves. While the Salvatore School has multiple students that are werewolves, there is a particular shot in the promo that shows Hope and Landon running through the woods.

This would mean that the two are searching for Rafael, who is still somewhere in the woods. Why Hope did not remember to turn Rafael back until now is something we don't know but in the circumstances of this urgent situation, it is imperative that they find their friend and save him from the monster, and for Hope to turn him back into his human form. Suffice to say, we might see Peyton Smith back as Rafael by the end of the third episode.

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights.
