While the entire 'Legacies' fandom is reeling under the loss of one Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell), it is our precious headmaster of the Salvatore School for the gifted, Alaric Saltzman (Matthew Davis), who we should be worried about. Known as one of the most wholesome yet complex characters in today's television, Alaric has been the father figure to the pupils at Salvatore's that most of them have missed out on. Sadly, for all this magical charm he exhibits, his journey has also been the saddest and extremely complicated on the show so far. But worry not, Davis is here to assure you that things do, in fact, get better for him in Season 2.

"Alaric is definitely the embodiment of the tragic hero, you know, so he's always in that cycle of almost attaining happiness and almost attaining stability in love and it's constantly being snatched out of his hands," Davis told MEA Worldwide (MEAWW) exclusively, at the San Diego Comic-Con 2019. "He's sort of like Sisyphus," he remarked, adding: "The characters constantly rolling up the rock and it keeps going back down, so I'm hoping that pattern might get broken this season." And if you're asking how, it's all thanks to a new love interest that might come across his path!

You heard it here first, but "Alaric may or may not become the principal of Mystic Falls High School, and there may or may not be a new Headmaster for the Salvatore School - a replacement found by Caroline," teased Davis. While he also teased that this new designation may or may not spark a new rivalry between the Mystic Falls High School and the Salvatore School for the gifted, it is this new woman in his life that we can't wait to find out more about. Elaborating on the topic further, Davis told us, "Alaric may or may not meet somebody who is a beautiful woman, who may or may not be the new sheriff of Mystic Falls." And to spice things up, he also said this sheriff character, who might become his love interest, could be a "single mom with two kids."

The prospect of love aside, Alaric will also have to face the harsh reality of his daughters desperately and unapologetically confronting him for answers about themselves, specifically about their merge, teases Davis. But at its core, up to the point where the story of Season 2 kicks off, "We find Alaric has been voted 'off the island', so to speak and I think he feels betrayed by the vote. So, he's been sort of spending his summer growing a beard, and growing his hair out and just feeling somewhat resentful full about the whole experience," hints Davis. That, and of course, the ongoing battle of figuring out the pivotal missing person (Hope) whose memory has been completely wiped out from their world. Fun times ahead indeed!

'Legacies' Season 2 premieres on October 13, at 9 pm, only on The CW.
