‘Legacies’ is back for a new episode this week as Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) takes on a new mission to save Josie Saltzman (Kaylee Bryant) from her darkness within the latter’s subconscious.

In last week’s episode, Josie tried to force her twin sister, Lizzie (Jenny Boyd), to undergo the Merge early. Though Lizzie ran away at first, Milton “MG” Greasley helps her make the decision to come back. When Lizzie faces Josie, MG helps Hope quickly get into Josie’s mind.

When Hope enters Josie’s mind in this week’s episode, she finds herself as Red Riding Hood in a fairytale world filled with dark magic where Josie’s darkness takes on the form of the big bad wolf. Will Hope be able to save Josie?

Meanwhile, back at the Salvatore School in Mystic Falls, Lizzie and her father Alaric (Matthew Davis) take on their own risky plan along with the Super Squad to get Josie back despite the potential consequences.

At the moment, the Necromancer has got an eye (literally) on the school. Lizzie being alive is hid from the rest of the students, considering that at least three of them are under the Necromancer’s control, including the witch Alyssa Chang as well as Rafael Waithe.

Many fans suspected that Rafael might have been dead and under the Necromancer’s control when he hid the presence of the Season 2 villain in Emma Tig’s simulation from the rest of his peers.

This was confirmed in last week’s episode when Rafael finally got his memories back. His best friend, Landon Kirby (also Hope’s boyfriend) seemed unable to accept it and refused to comply with Rafael’s wish that Landon kills him.

That ultimately proved to be his downfall -- when Rafael and Landon hugged, Rafael stabbed Landon in the heart with a golden arrow. If viewers recall, the Sphinx’s prediction in an episode earlier this season spoke of a hero “felled by a golden arrow.”

We don’t know for sure whether Landon is dead, but Aria Shahghasemi who portrays the character is set to appear in the next episode.

The writers for the show tweeted that the episode could be best described by the bread, martini and ax emojis. While the ax signifies the wolf, the other two emojis are sure to confuse viewers.

‘Legacies’ airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c. Watch the promo for the episode below.
