'Legacies' Season 2 Episode 11: Landon easily defeats this week's monster as the phoenix gains another power

It's almost February and love is in the air. Well, not quite as much on this week's episode of 'Legacies'.

A bow-and-arrow wielding, winged monster shows up this week shooting arrows to make people fall in love. Doesn't sound so bad, right? However, the monster isn't Cupid as Landon Kirby (Aria Shahghasemi), Hope and the others thought. When the winged monster first shows up, Landon tells Hope that he will handle it. Unfortunately, Landon loses the monster and since he feels like he has a point to prove -- that he doesn't always need to be saved -- he enlists the help of Wade (Elijah B. Moore) and the secondary Super Squad to find the monster.

However, when they catch up to the monster, they see him gorging on the hearts of those the monster earlier shot with arrows. Cupid's weakness is his own arrow and so Landon tries to shoot the monster with the arrow but fails. Hope Mikaelson(Daniel Rose Russell) then shows up and uses her magic to shoot all of the monster's arrows at once into him. The monster falls and thinking the job is done, Hope leaves but not before Landon realizes that she is disappointed in him.

This is when they realize that the monster isn't Cupid -- it's one of Cupid's brothers. In this case, it is Pothos. Pothos then surprises Hope and shoots her with an arrow, weakening her. However, Landon shows up right on time and tells Pothos to eat him first. Landon stabs himself in the heart with one of Pothos's own arrows. The monster then rips Landon's heart out -- kills him -- and eats it as Hope wails in despair.

But then, the monster starts choking and dies. Landon then comes back to life (being the phoenix that he is) and tells Hope that he ate a multitude of things -- each thing a weakness to each of Cupid's brothers -- so he could defeat the monster. Not only is Landon a hero in this episode (again) but we also learn that Landon has another power -- he can fly!

Hopefully, Landon's not-a-hero complex wears off and we see Hope and Landon working together. They certainly need to. Hope is still trying to figure out how to get the Saltzmans back from the prison world, she did not get anywhere with that -- and they better hurry. There's a bigger evil hunting the Saltzmans on the other side (Kai Parker).

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights at 9/8c.
