When Malivore spit out Hope in the first episode of Season 2 of 'Legacies' on The CW, Clarke begged her to take him with her. But, she knew she couldn't risk it -- either the portal closing because of taking Clarke or Clarke double-crossing her -- and she left him in the Malivore pit. However, Clarke did make his way out after promising his "father" that he would destroy the one thing (Hope) that could destroy him.

But, we did not see Clarke after that, until a few episodes ago when it was revealed that the new headmaster of the Salvatore School, Professor Vardemus, was actually Clarke in disguise. We also saw Vardemus chomping down on monsters and coaxing Josie into performing dark magic and channel it into another object.

In this week's episode of 'Legacies', Clarke's true intentions finally became clear as he used Josie to create a very powerful dark object with a trident. He wants to use the trident to transfer himself into Hope's body as his own is disintegrating -- he had been consuming monsters to sustain himself -- and so he wants to become a powerful tribrid through her body.

However, the golem subconscious Landon tricks Clarke into transferring to him -- before Clarke realized he wasn't the real Landon -- and Clarke's mind is transferred into the golem. Later, this golem is dragged by the zombie from last week to the red-hooded figure that has been hanging around mysteriously.

In the promo for next week's episode, we do hear Clarke's voice and see a glimpse of him, so it is clear that his story is not over yet. We also don't know how Clarke got access to the magic red ring either. So either the red-hooded figure is aware that this Landon is actually Clarke, or they wanted Landon himself.

This week's monster also revealed that a monster worse than Malivore is coming. Whether that monster involves the red-hooded figures, we don't know yet but we can safely assume they do.

'Legacies' airs on The CW on Thursday nights. Season 2's fall finale will air on December 12th at 9/8c.
