'Legacies' season 2 episode 1: Will Ryan Clarke be back to cause more trouble for Hope and the rest of Salvatore School?

Though Clarke promised to leave Hope and her friends alone if she helped him get out of Malivore, we can't help but think that we will see him for a long time.

Season 2 of 'Legacies' premiered on October 10 and we finally got solid proof that Hope Mikaelson is alive and doing well, sort of. Though she was stuck in the Malivore Pit with Ryan Clarke -- the main villain of Season 1 -- she gets him to tell her how to get out of there. He begs her to help him escape as well, lest he is tortured for eternity by his "father". He also tells her that he will leave her and everyone else alone. He is, however, pulled out of Malivore by a mysterious figure. 

We may think that would be the last we see of Clarke (Nick Fink) for the season, but considering that Nick Fink checks all the boxes when it comes to the kind of guys Julie Plec has on her shows, it's certain he will come back. Fink's IMDb page confirms this: he will appear in every episode of season 2 till episode 7, and he is confirmed to appear in episodes 9, 10, and 14. That's a significant amount of airtime and it only fuels our theories that Landon's half-brother could very well be a permanent fixture on the show. 

Certainly, the mysterious figure who rescued him will play a major part in his story in these episodes but it won't be long before Clarke sets out for Mystic Falls. Is it possible that Clarke actually feels remorse and sets out to help Hope? Or will he change his mind and decide to help his father once again? It would be in Clarke's benefit to help Hope and the others destroy Malivore -- he can then live a life free of his father and that might mean he could be a very different person. We also liked seeing Hope's and Clarke's scenes together -- actors Danielle Rose Russell and Nick Fink seem to work well together. Whether that translates to a potential romance remains to be seen but we're sure it is an option that Plec might consider.

Having Clarke as a villain again would certainly be repetitive and apart from Katherine from 'The Vampire Diaries', Plec usually changes up the antagonists of her shows. Plec is great at slow redemptions and even managed to make fans feel for Klaus after 'The Originals'. There is a good chance this mysterious figure plays a part in his redemption, or like Katherine, it is possible that Clarke gets worse and may even be the biggest bad of the series. 

One thing is certain, Hope needs someone who knows her. Right now, no one remembers her and it hurt her to see Landon moving on, even though she knows that he doesn't know she exists. Clarke could help with that -- having even one person remember her, even if it is the wrong person, would be something that Hope wants without even realizing it.
