The email read, "The National Enquirer is preparing to publish a story about actors Ice-T and Christopher Meloni are feuding since the latter's return to the franchise. Sources told National Enquirer that the former rapper has grown envious of the attention that Mr Meloni has received since coming back."
Ice-T has played the role of Detective Odafin 'Fin' Tutuola since 2000 and has spent 11 seasons acting alongside Meloni. Meloni reprised the role of Detective Elliot Stabler in 2021 on 'Law & Order: Organized Crime', which has had crossover storylines with 'Law & Order: SVU' after leaving the franchise in 2010 after its 12th season.
Ice-T discussed about his friendship with the co-star Meloni in an interview with The View ahead of his return to the franchise in 2021. He said that they have stayed in touch "the whole time" since "we're friends in real life." "To have him come back and watch what’s gonna happen with him and Mariska, everybody’s just waiting for that moment, but it’s good, he’s a friend, I worked with him for 12 years, we became close friends," he added.
Fans of the franchise had rather funny reactions to this whole "feud". One fan jokingly said, "My condolences. I hope the Enquirer lets y’all know when you’ve worked it out." Another fan said, "I'm super geeked about the diss tracks you're going to fire at each other." One fan joked about how he would choose Ice-T over Meloni and wrote, "Thank god because if we had to choose between you two it would probably be Ice."
One fan jokingly suggested how to solve the feud saying, "I suggest that you work it out with some Turkish oil wrestling." Another fan said, "I’m not gonna lie. I’d buy tickets if it was a jello match." One of the fans suggested turning the situation into comedy gold and wrote, "You two should just lean into it and have a laugh like Jackman and Reynolds do. That could be comedy gold!"
