Release date
After an entire year since Season 1 wrapped, Season 2 of 'LA's Finest' is finally coming to your screens this Monday, June 8, only on Spectrum Original. The first three episodes will be available on Spectrum’s On Demand service the same day, with the latter episodes rolling out weekly, following its premiere.
Plot
The initial premise of the series saw Agents Syd Burnett and Nancy McKenna learning to build a foundation of trust and supportive workplace dynamics as they went about their ways through new cases and plenty of chaos. Season 2 official synopsis states: "Syd (Union) mourns the sudden loss of a friend and struggles to find answers, while McKenna (Alba) must deal with the aftermath of Izzy's kidnapping and the rift it has left in her marriage.”
Creator
Inspired by the characters and arcs of Michael Bay, Bilall Fallah, Adil El Arbi's crime franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, the female-led Spectrum drama was created by Brandon Margolis and Brandon Sonnier.
Cast
Gabrielle Union plays Special Agent Sydney Burnett aka Syd and Jessica Alba as Nancy McKenna. Syd a former DEA agent is now employed with the LAPD. She also happens to be Marcus Burnett’s (Lawrence) sister from 'Bad Boys'. Alba's Nancy is Syd’s new partner in fighting crime, and eventually, they spark a friendship too. As a stepmom with a criminal past, she is married to a doctor called Patrick (Ryan McPartlin) and has a stepdaughter called Izzy (Sophie Reynolds). Season 2 will also see Duane Martin as Ben Baines, Zach Gilford as Ben Walker and Ernie Hudson as Joseph Burnett (Syd’s estranged dad).
Trailer
Spectrum’s official trailer pans around the synopsis. We see Syd and Nancy struggling with their own personal lives, but just as the synopsis states, "When a powerful crime wave in Koreatown threatens to destroy the community, Syd, McKenna and the team must find those responsible before it’s too late.” And the trailer encompasses the same.
