Lara Trump welcomes a possible Hillary Clinton presidential run in 2020: 'It would be so easy for Trump to win round 2'
President Donald Trump's daughter-in-law and Trump 2020 campaign senior adviser, Lara Trump, on Tuesday, welcomed a possible Hillary Clinton presidential run in 2020, saying she was confident Trump would beat her again. Lara, Eric Trump's wife, while making an appearance on 'Hannity' Tuesday night, said: "First of all, I just want to double down on the president and say if Hillary Clinton would like round two with Donald Trump, please let's do that."
"I would love to see a round two between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton because I think we all remember, Sean, not too long ago, all the media said that she was going to be the next president. We see Donald Trump in the White House now," she added.
Her statement came shortly after President Trump attempted to rankle the Democratic primary by inviting the former Secretary of State to make a third attempt at the presidency in 2020. However, shortly after he wrote the tweet directed at Clinton, the 2016 presidential contender shot back at Trump, saying: "Don't tempt me."
Trump, in his tweet, said Clinton should try to "steal" the nomination from one of the Democratic 2020 frontrunners, Elizabeth Warren. The president also added Clinton should enter the race only on the "condition" that she revisits her email scandal and explain "her high crimes and misdemeanors."
"I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren. Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her high crimes and misdemeanors including how [and] why she deleted 33,000 Emails AFTER getting 'C' Subpoena!" the president tweeted.
Clinton, who won the popular vote in the 2016 elections against Trump, swiftly replied to his tweet, saying: "Don’t tempt me. Do your job." The former first lady has attempted to run for presidency twice, in 2008, and 2016, winning the Democratic nomination in the latter bid.
Lara Trump also said that if Clinton ran in 2020, she was confident that President Trump would easily win. "It would be so easy to win but I think it's going to be easy to win with any of these candidates," she said. "You're talking about Elizabeth Warren now, who does look to be, I guess, the best hope they have. Maybe that's why they're trying to bring Hillary back out because they see how bad all these candidates really are."
