Inauguration Day is finally underway and former Senator Kamala Harris has taken the oath to become the next Vice President of the United States. Before former Vice President Joe Biden took the oath to become the 46th President of the United States, viewers were treated to performances by Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

Of the two multi-faceted personalities' appearances, it was Lady Gaga who swept the audience away with her outfit itself. Styled in a dress with a ruffled red skirt. But what took the attention of viewers was, of course, the large golden dove with an olive branch brooch that Lady Gaga sported for her performance of the Star-Spangled Banner.

Lady Gaga's outfit was no doubt intended to be a statement of unity, but what most people on social media could not get past was that her outfit seemed quite inspired by the young adult book/movie series, 'The Hunger Games'.

In 'The Hunger Games', the fictional creature of Mockingjay is worn as a pin by lead character Katniss Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence in the movies) as a symbol of a rebellion against the ruling dictatorship, and seen as "something of a slap in the face to the Capitol."

Lady Gaga's gold dove pin reminded many users of the movies, yet was lauded for its symbolism of peace. One user tweeted, "Lady Gaga looks like a Hunger Games hero and I am here for every second of it!" Another wrote, "Anybody else start crying when @ladygaga walked out with the dove on her dress and started singing? I just got hit with a bunch of emotions, but mostly relief & hope."

A user wrote, "In other news, Lady Gaga singing the national anthem with a damn gold mic while looking like she came straight out of The Hunger Games. We stan a queen." Another tweeted, "Unsurprisingly, @ladygaga nails it. From the imagery of her outfit to her outstanding vocals. Love the peace dove pin. #POTUS46."

Of course, the outfit choice did not go without jabs. Given the size of Lady Gaga's dove brooch, a user joked, "Lady Gaga's dove pin could be way larger. Missed opportunity. Can barely see it on the TV."
