'La Casa de Papel' or 'Money Heist: Korea'? Fans battle over which Netflix version is better
There have been only a few international shows that have managed to capture people’s imagination like ‘La Casa de Papel’, aka ‘Money Heist’. The Spanish heist crime drama aired on a Spanish channel and didn’t receive good reviews. However, in 2019, Netflix acquired the rights to the show and included the first two seasons on the streaming platform. The show turned out to be massively successful and became the world’s number one show in no time. After that, the show ran for three more seasons and became a cultural phenomenon.
As a result, Korea also decided to come ahead with its own version of the show. Titled ‘Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area’, the series takes all the elements from the original series and mixes them with the local flavors of Korea. The names of the characters are the same and even some of the situations are also the same. Although critics have hailed the Korean version as a “love letter” to the original Spanish series, fans from both sides are now flooding the social media and telling the world which version is better.

Money Heist Korea is not the first and definitely not the last K-drama that's getting criticised
Apparently even the og show was a flop when it was released
But that's not the case with this show
Despite all the hate

It’s not shocking that people are leaning towards the original ‘Money Heist’ because it has ruled the hearts for more than five years and continued giving viewers enthralling content. Meanwhile, ‘Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area’ is relatively new and still needs time to make a mark on viewers. Part One certainly made all the right moves and fans would be expecting to take it to a whole new level when the show returns for Part 2.
‘La Casa de Papel’ and ‘Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area’ are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
