Kourtney Kardashian labeled 'anti-vaxxer' after she floats fake Covid-19 conspiracy on blue masks causing cancer
The eldest sister of the Kardashian-Jenner family has been facing a lot of slamming on the internet for reportedly posting a false theory regarding blue masks, commonly worn amid the coronavirus pandemic. Kourtney Kardashian took to her Instagram Story on Halloween day, where she shared a post with her 102 million followers, which claimed that surgical masks can cause cancer despite having no scientific proof of it.
The 41-year-old’s Instagram story on Saturday, October 31, included a picture of the blue disposable surgical mask along with a message that read, “Those Blue Masks Mandated at grocery stores & airplanes are made of PTFE, a carcinogen made of synthetic fluoride. According to Cancer.Org, it increases the risk of liver, testicle, pancreas, kidney & breast tumors + ulcerative colitis, thyroid disease, preeclampsia and high cholesterol. High exposure can cause influenza-like symptoms and hemorrhaging in the lungs, leading to suffocation.”
But Dr William Cance, chief medical and scientific officer of the American Cancer Society (ACS), told The New York Post, “There is no evidence to support the claim that the presence of PTFE in a mask causes cancer. As a surgical oncologist, I, along with thousands of colleagues in the health-care profession, have been wearing masks for years to protect patients from the spread of infections.”
People on the internet soon called out Kourtney for sharing such baseless information on the social media site. One such user said, “The way Kourtney Kardashian is trying to delegitimize mask use is trash. it’s safe to assume she’s anti-vaxx too. she used to be my fav out of them, i’m disappointed." The second user commented: “Kourtney Kardashian spreads Covid-19 mask conspiracy on Instagram... welp, looks like she’s anti protection of any kind.”
The third one wrote: “I think anyone that watches the Kardashians could quite confidently tell you that Kourtney Kardashian is a bit of moron but that f**kin scaremongering mask s**t she put on her Insta story is a new level of stupidity I actually can’t." “The scariest thing to happen on Halloween this year is Kourtney Kardashian posting this utterly ridiculous post about blue masks with no medical evidence or proof. It’s just some random screenshot. Medical professionals worldwide wear them but this screenshot means it's true,” added the fourth person.
Dr Joshua Wolrich, a doctor from the NHS, UK, also took to Twitter to condemn Kourtney’s stand against surgical masks. He tweeted, “It’s one thing for a random people on social media to claim that masks cause cancer... it’s another for @kourtneykardash to be doing so on her Instagram stories to >100 million followers. UTTERLY F**KING UNACCEPTABLE.” A lot of people supported him on Twitter with one saying, “Thanks for your post! This is my solution with these celebrities who talk unacceptable lies: I block them.” “Dr. Wolrich they should take her before a federal judge and due her for slander,” another user added.

“Wtf...someone pop that uneducated bubble pls,” tweeted a person. While the second one chimed in: “She’s entitled and selfish, much like @KimKardashian who’s a known liar - I’m happy for you to prove me wrong @KimKardashian and @kourtneykardash.”
