TikTok has always been a popular place for trends, challenges, and more. It is the most popular platform for challenges that can be funny, entertaining, and dangerous simultaneously. This time, it's all about the “Kool-Aid Man” challenge.

While the challenge made headlines in 2021 and 2022, it's been in the news again following the arrest of six young people in February 2023.

What is the Kool-Aid Man Challenge?

The challenge involves individuals running through walls and fences saying, "Oh yeah," like the popular Kool-Aid commercials, which featured the brand's mascot bursting through walls and ceilings with his catchphrase: "Oh yeah".

As a Centereach's Cobblestone Court resident heard loud noises at around one in the morning, the challenge came to the police’s notice. The homeowner examined the security cameras carefully and then reported the incident to Suffolk County Police. "Six kids have been arrested for breaking fences at four different homes on one night. @SCPDHq says they were doing what's called the 'Kool Aid Man Challenge,' recording with the intention to post on #TikTok. Exclusive details on #nbc4ny", wrote Pei-Sze Cheng, a reporter for News 4 New York, WNBC.

Six children were subsequently issued tickets by the police for criminal mischief after they attempted to scale the fence for the sake of fashion. The movement has now been condemned by the authorities, who have labeled participation in it as "criminal."

How ‘the dangerous’ TikTok challenge is affecting people?

Like all the viral trends on TikTok, the Kool-Aid Man trend has also created a buzz on the platform, with many people reacting to it. The kids are now charged with several counts of third and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

The police are taking severe measures against all indulging in the trend, as the challenge is becoming popular on many social media platforms. On TikTok alone, the challenge has about 88.8 million views on various videos.

A user expressed his view on the challenge through a tweet, writing, "Apparently these dumbasses are doing a Kool Aid Man Challenge now on Tiktok...typical liberals."

The popular social media platform TikTok recently announced that every account held by a user under the age of 18 would have a default 60-minute daily screen time limit in the coming weeks, as per USA Today.

If teens opt to deviate from the 60-minute norm, TikTok stated that it would start pushing them to set a daily screen time limit. Teen accounts will receive weekly email notifications from the corporation with a summary of their screen time. Also, there have long been concerns by parents about what minors are exposed to on social media and the potential harm it might do.
