Royal Affairs! King Charles' ex Susan George called him ‘Sir’ even on dates
LONDON, UK: King Charles’ first love was Camilla Shand, who is now his wife. But there came a time when Camilla went on to exchange vows with her first husband Andrew Parker Bowles, leaving the current monarch of England looking for his special one. It has been said that at the time, the woman who attracted him was actress Susan George.
The Daily Mail reported that Charles and ‘The Strange Affair’ star got quite close during those times and went on to have numerous dinner dates together. However, George never missed the fact that the 74-year-old was a royal and always referred to him as “Sir”. Also, before her friends, she used to call Charles her “special individual” but never publicly admitted that they had a romantic relationship.

Besides, the ‘Straw Dogs’ star, Charles’ eyes caught the attention of Barbra Streisand before he met Diana Spencer. The publication reported that the two first met each other while the father-of-two was serving in the Royal Navy as a lieutenant. He reportedly shared in a radio interview, “Back in 1974, when I was serving in the Royal Navy…as a young lieutenant in the frigate HMS Jupiter, we called into the United States Navy’s base in San Diego, California…when I heard that she was currently making the film Funny Lady.”
He continued, “I was lucky enough to visit the set and to meet her there. I shall never forget her dazzling, effervescent talent and the unique vitality and attraction of her voice and her acting ability. This next song, 'Don’t Rain on my Parade,' is therefore full of special memories of—I hardly dare think of it now—47 years ago.”

Streisand also spoke of him fondly as she reportedly once said, “He asked to meet me. So he came to the recording studio... I offered him a sip of tea and I thought, 'They didn't have to test me for poison or something? No,” before adding, “We became friends, and I loved spending some time at Highgrove for a weekend fundraiser and going through his gardens.”
Recalling another meeting, Streisand stated, “I had a very funny line on stage when he came to see [my] show. I said, ‘You know, if I played my cards right, I could have wound up being the first Jewish princess!’”
This comes after in late 2022, The Mirror citing author Christopher Andersen’s book ‘The King: The Life of Charles III’ noted, “A framed photograph of Streisand hung in his rooms at Cambridge and went up on the wall of his bedroom at Buckingham Palace after graduation.”
The writer also reportedly mentioned that the singer was very "nervous" and “tight-lipped” while meeting the then-26-year-old Charles but he “really wanted to get to stay and know her”. In his journal, he also penned, “I still contend she has great sex appeal.”
