King Charles coronation: Ceremony's date, time, location and guest list revealed
LONDON, UK: On May 6, London will be buzzing with the grandeur and spirituality of King Charles' historic coronation as thousands gather at Westminster Abbey to witness British pageantry at its finest.
The coronation is the only surviving ceremony of its kind in Europe, according to BBC. It is likely to be not as grand in scale as Queen Elizabeth II's 1953 coronation. During the ceremony, the King will be crowned with the solid gold, 17th Century St Edward's Crown.

Where and when will King Charles be crowned?
The coronation of King Charles will take place on Saturday, May 6, 2023, in Westminster Abbey, a church where 39 coronations of English and British monarchs have taken place. The coronation ceremony for King Charles will begin at 6 am EST and end at 8 am EST.
Order of service
The coronation ceremony is a highly formal and structured event. It typically includes oath-taking, anointing, and crowning, as well as a procession through London.
What will King Charles and the queen wear for the ceremony?
For the coronation, King Charles will don the crimson robe of state worn by King George VI, and Queen Consort Camilla will wear the crimson robe of state worn by Queen Elizabeth II. In the "interests of sustainability and efficiency," the King will reuse some historical costumes worn by prior monarchs at previous coronations at the Saturday event, according to Buckingham Palace.
Will Camilla be crowned as Queen?
Camilla's decision was made "in the interests of sustainability and efficiency," according to the palace, but she made some "minor changes and additions." She wishes to memorialize her late mother-in-law by resetting the crown with Cullinan III, IV, and V diamonds from the Queen's personal collection.
Will Prince Harry and Meghan fly back?
The Duke of Sussex has indicated that he will attend his father's big day. He will, however, be traveling alone. In April, it was revealed that his wife, Meghan, will remain in California with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Meghan is said to have opted out of the celebration because the day coincided with Princess Archie's fourth birthday.
Guest list
The service at Westminster Abbey will be attended by around 2,200 people. While the palace does not release a detailed guest list, it has confirmed that the congregation will include members of the royal family as well as international representatives from 203 countries, including approximately 100 heads of state, community and charity champions, and members of the media. Jill Biden, the first lady, will lead the American delegation. In addition, a number of royals from throughout the world are expected to visit London.
The guest list for a coronation is typically extensive, including foreign dignitaries, members of the royal family, and representatives from across British society. In the past, up to 8,000 people have been present for a coronation at Westminster Abbey. The coronation of King Charles would be a significant moment in British history and would likely be watched by millions around the world.
