'Killing Eve' Season 3 Episode 3 Preview: Does Villanelle attack Eve or is it someone else from The 12?

An unfocused, broken Villanelle has us convinced she isn't taking this news of Eve still being alive too well

Right ahead of the premiere of 'Killing Eve' Season 3, BBC America dropped a teaser featuring Sanda Oh's titular character all battered and bruised from something she doesn't want to talk about.

It had sent concerned fans in a frenzy as they wondered "Who hurt Eve?" and reflected "she's so masochistic, she probably likes it".

The same snippet appears in the official promo clip for the upcoming Episode 3 of this season and tallying the other instances features in the teaser our money is on Villanelle being the attacker. Her, or someone else from The 12.

In one of the clips released ahead of the episode, Villanelle is seen enjoying a drink with Dasha and a random baby that she most likely stole from a target's home. Dasha is reminding her of her predicament with The 12 after that messy managerial execution where she ended up killing that target.

Dasha accuses Villanelle of being unfocused for days and warns her to pull her socks up and concentrate on proving herself to the higher authority she answers.

Smugly, Villanelle tries to deflect Dasha's words by either mocking the older woman or paying attention to the baby. But it's obvious that Dasha's accusations of Villanelled being unfocused aren't baseless as another promo teaser shows her in a toy shop, recording messages for Eve in a speaking teddy bear.

All of this teasing and chasing seems a little repetitive from Season 2, where Villanelle was on the prowl for Eve, but this time Villanelle's pain is sheathed more with denial than playful toying with her prey.

She starts by saying "I wish I had shot you in the head" and "I wish you were dead", but ends up withdrawing after she finally admits "I can't stop thinking about you."

This has us believed that the reason Eve walks into either the MI6 or Kenny's workplace with a face full of clots and bruises that she doesn't want to talk about, were actually from Villanelle.

The scenes are shows haphazardly in separate trailers, but in the official promo Eve can be seen with the toy bear Villanelle was recording, and it sides with speculations of Villanelle's prowl resuming.

At the same time, Villanelle's psychopath tendencies will know no rest until they are able to hunt down Eve after knowing she is very much alive — or so hinted that panicked glee we saw spreading upon her face the moment Konstantin dropped the bomb at her elaborate Barcelona mansion.

But Villanelle is clearly not the only one hunting Eve; the official promo also sees Eve warn her comrades of The 12's insidious intent, as she tells them the moment they know about the organization they are in danger.

We know Kenny was investigating them, and we also know of the tragic consequences he was showered with for his bold attempt. With Konstantin having planted that microphone in Carolyn's refrigerator magnet, it's obvious that Eve and the MI agents are the organization's priority targets.

The question that remains is if Villanelle asks The 12 to take care of Eve by teaching her a lesson, or if it is The 12 that tasks Villanelle with taking care of Eve as a solid warning against what they are about to explore.

'Killing Eve' Season 3 airs on Sundays at 9 pm only on BBC America.
