Spoilers for 'Killing Eve' Season 3 Episode 2

Right at the end of season 3's second episode, Konstantin (Kim Bodnia) finally lights the biggest fire of all by telling Villanelle (Jodie Comer) that Eve Polastri (Sandra Oh) is very much alive. And while that wasn't the only spark he lit, as he went around attending a funeral and reuniting with Carolyn Martens' (Fiona Shaw) daughter, Geraldine (Gemma Whelan), it might be the one turns out to be the most monumental. After two full weeks of keeping us in the dark, this installment of 'Killing Eve' might finally reveal what exactly happened after Villanelle shot Eve in the finale of season 2, explaining just how Eve came back safe and sound after being left to bleed to her death amid the ruins of the Colosseum at Rome.

It all begins at Kenny's funeral when Konstantin is spotted by Geraldine and she recognizes him from her childhood. It's obvious that the older man is a trusted friend of the family so later in the episode when Geraldine comes across Konstantin about to mail some things, she doesn't hesitate to open up about how hard it has been to process everything. Geraldine breaks down when Konstantin offers her a memento in the form of a refrigerator magnet which he was about to mail his daughter, apparently. But, as it turns out later, the magnet is actually a microphone - meaning Konstantin was able to overhear when Eve arrived at the Martens' residence and propositioned her and Carolyn to dig deep into Kenny's death.

After all of this, when Konstantin shows up for a surprise visit at Villanelle's new home in Barcelona, it's obvious he comes with an agenda. Villanelle reacts just the way she is expected to - with violence and rage after the way Konstantin betrayed her in Rome. But even though she kicks Kim out, he leaves some very valuable information, both for her and for viewers. Not only does Konstantin inform Villanelle that Eve is alive, but he also tells her that he never stopped working for The 12. Meaning, there's a high chance The 12 are also listening to the conversations unfolding at the Martens' residence.

It is, however, Villanelle's reaction to finding out Eve is alive that interests us. She insists she shot Eve and there's no way the former MI6 agent could come back to life, but Konstantin reminds her this is why she should double-check if her victims are dead before leaving the crime scene. This sends a look of panicked glee upon Villanelle's face and as her eyes glisten and lips quiver the groundwork for a much-needed flashback where Eve is rescued after what was believed to be a fatal shot in the finale is laid.

At the same time, since Eve returning to work with Carolyn (unofficially) also means her having to consider that it was Villanelle behind Kenny's death, there's no denying that she knows the two of them might come face to face again. What better groundwork for that flashback to Rome, right? As of now, all the fingers point towards the upcoming episode 3 revealing what went on behind Eve's resurrection and we just have to wait with bated breath!

'Killing Eve' Season 3 airs on Sundays at 9 pm only on BBC America.
