16-year-old boy who went missing after breaking up with girlfriend found dead in the woods near home
The boy disappeared from his home in Dewsbury Moor, West Yorkshire, at about 1:30 p.m. on October 19 and police were to locate the area by tracing the location of his cell phone.
One 16-year-old boy, who had vanished after he broke up with his girlfriend, was found dead in the woods close to his home. It was reported that Kieran Wood disappeared from his home in Dewsbury Moor, West Yorkshire, at about 1:30 pm on October 19, leaving his family in an emotional wreck.
The authorities were able to trace his cell phone to the area in Dewsbury after they were alerted by his mother, Sarah, on that day. The teen's body was finally found by a passerby on October 20 morning in the local woods.
A spokesperson for the police said in a press release: "At 11.30am on Saturday police were contacted by a member of the public who had found the body of a teenage male in woods off Heckmondwike Road, Dewsbury. An ambulance attended and the male was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Kieran Wood, aged 16, from Dewsbury, who was reported missing from home on Friday afternoon. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers. There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances and the Coroner’s Office has been informed."
His devastated ex-girlfriend posted a long tribute on Facebook that read: "(sic) I love you’d with all of my heart you beautiful boy, if I could of done even more to help you I would. I really wish you was still here rn to tell me everything is gonna be ok but I know I can’t expect that anymore. I wish you would of spoken to me sooner because I would of been there straight away, I love you forever and always you gorgeous gorgeous boy."
"Thank you for all the good times you give me and everything you’ve ever done I just wish I could of helped you, I hope your looking down on me baby cause I am gonna do you proud I promise, everything you wanted me to do and achieve I will i promsie. I love you with all of my heart and that will never change. (sic)"
A youth organization that is based in the same town as Wood, the Bramwell Sports Development Team, also paid tribute to the teen on social media. The chair of the organization, Tanisha Bramwell, wrote: "Today we are very sad to hear the news of Kieran Wood’s passing. Kieran attended a lot of sessions and projects put on by Bramwell Sports Development Team. And was friends with many of our participants. Our condolences go out to all of his loved ones. Our team have him in our thoughts."
