Kiely Rodni: Police ask public to look for missing teen's gold chain as search intensifies
NEVADA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA: Authorities are urging the public to keep an eye out for Kiely Rodni's jewelry as the search for the missing 16-year-old enters its sixth day.
Investigators are no closer to getting answers as to the missing teenager's whereabouts and have now released pictures of her jewelry to aid search efforts. The Placer County Sheriff's department said in a statement that they are struggling to find leads in the case despite receiving more than 500 tips from across the country. Kiely was last seen just after midnight on Saturday, August 6, at an end-of-school party on the Prosser Family Campground, where hundreds of teens and young adults had gathered in the woods. Her phone went out of service around the same time, prompting the authorities to probe the case as an abduction considering her car is also missing.

Placer County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Angela Musallam urged the public to reach out to the authorities if they came across a gold chain Kiely is believed to have been wearing on the night of her disappearance. “We’re told she always wears this type of jewelry," Musallam said during a press conference on Thursday, August 11. "We’d want anybody who comes across [this necklace] to please contact us immediately because this would certainly provide us a new tip, and a new direction."
Speaking to The Independent on Thursday, Kiely's mother Lindsey Rodni-Nieman said her daughter had originally planned to accompany her to a car show in Reno Friday night, but texted her during the day saying she was going to the party instead. “There was this classic car show in Reno – she’s so dynamic she loves everything from playing the violin to car shows – and so she was maybe going to see some drag races with us there,” Lindsey said.

The devastated mum recalled how she and her daughter discussed the plan Friday morning, August 5, which was the last time they saw each other. “Later that day, Kiely then texted saying she was going to go to a party instead of going to the car show. She’d been to the car show already and there was this party in Prosser,” Lindsey added.

Kiely's close pal Samantha Smith told The Independent on Monday, August 8, that she was the last person to speak to the teenager via phone at around 12:30 am on Saturday. The two had initially arranged for Kiely to give Smith a ride home from the party, but the former had been drinking and "was in no state to drive." They subsequently spoke on the phone at some point during the party and told each other to get home safe. “At 12: 36 am she called me … and this is the last call anybody had with her. We said ‘love you, good night. Get home safe,’ and that’s the last thing we heard of her,” Samantha said. A $50,000 reward has been announced for information leading up to Kiely, and her loved ones have launched a GoFundMe campaign to aid the search effort.
