Kiely Rodni: CodeRED emergency alert activated as search for missing teen enters 7th day
California authorities have activated the CodeRED Emergency Alert System to strengthen the search for Kiely Rodni, who mysteriously disappeared on her way home from a campground party on Friday, August 5.
The alert system is used by emergency officials to notify residents and businesses regarding critical situations and provide information by telephone, cell phone, text message, email, and social media. In this system, a specific geographic area can be selected by the officials to convey the critical information. Only authorized officials have access to the CodeRED system.
The 16-year-old was last seen at around 12:30 am on Saturday, August 6, when she was driving back home from an end-of-high school party at the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee in her Honda CRV. The campground party of more than 300 people included high schoolers and young adults. The investigator said she was last seen wearing someone else’s sweater to fight the dropping temperatures. The inscription on the sweater worn by the teen read: "You don't want to be forgotten. You just want to disappear."

Kiely Rodni: Why have authorities STILL not activated Amber Alert for missing teen?
More than 300 people were present at the end-of-high school party but no one saw Kiely leaving the campground. The authorities believe the teen may have been abducted after leaving the party.
"We have about an 80% enrollment for Nevada County, so out of our 100,000 residents, that message should hit about 80,000 residents," Nevada County Sheriff’s Office Capt Sam Brown said of the CodeRED alert during a Thursday afternoon press conference.
An Amber alert has not been activated for the missing teen as authorities have no solid evidence to back their belief of Kiely’s abduction. "We have other countries that are even asking and wanting to talk to the family, so there's support, I think because people feel like they could be even in this same situation themselves. We just want the word out so that more eyes are out because we don't have an exact spot to look for, and that is unusual — especially with a large object like a car," Brown said.
The investigators are questioning close friends and the attendees of the party and asking to submit videos and images of the big fight that occurred at the Prosser Family Campground party. "Searchers from across the state continue their search on the ground, in the air, and in the water — so far, we only have information on Kiely’s last known location before she went missing," they said in a Facebook post. "Detectives from local, state, and federal agencies continue to follow up on leads and conduct interviews in hopes of locating Kiely and her vehicle."
It is the sixth day since Kiely went missing and more than 220 law enforcement have been assigned the task of finding the 16-year-old teen while the investigators have already received more than 500 tips regarding the missing of Kiely. Authorities even made dive teams enter the Prosser Creek Reservoir on Wednesday looking for any sign of the teen or the Honda CRV she was driving that night.
Police have revealed that the teen last spoke to her family and friends after midnight on August 6, just a few minutes before her phone got switched off at 12:33 am. The phone of the girl was last tracked near the Prosser Family Campground.
Rodni who was wearing a black bodysuit and Dickies pants that night is described to be 5-foot-7 and about 118 pounds. The teen also has a tattoo of ‘17’ around her ribs. She has blonde hair and hazel eyes. She has a nose ring and several other piercings. She drives a silver 2013 Honda CRV with California license plate 8YUR127.
Authorities have set up an anonymous tip line to assist with the search. If you or anyone you know has information regarding Kiely Rodni's whereabouts, you are urged to contact the authorities at 530-581-6320, and press option 7.
