The article contains spoilers for 'Kidding' Season 2

The episode titled 'A Seat On The Rocket' takes us back to when Puppet Time was first conjured up as an idea. We then move forward into time as Jeff Piccirillo (Jim Carrey), having lost his Pickle family, starts his bid to create a new one while Deirdre Piccirillo (Catherine Keener) takes on NASA's proposal to send puppet Astron-otter to space.

Years ago, when the Kennedy Space Centre was set to launch a rocket into space, Jeff saw the dreams of children get crushed as a malfunction resulted in the rocket exploding. Jeff then is able to recruit his sister Deirdre to use the same power of TV to heal the children. Together, they come up with Puppet Time, and in this process, Astron-otter was born. All those years ago, NASA had offered to send Astron-otter to space to expand the knowledge of children and get them interested in science, but Jeff's father  Seb (Frank Langella), who ran the company at the time, said no. If there was an explosion, he did not want to eulogize their most prized and loved puppet.

Now, in the present, Deirdre lost the ownership of the puppets to her ex-husband Scott Perera (Bernard White) and after seeing Astron-otter in a promotional video for a car, she decides enough is enough. Wanting to remind the world that Puppet Time is a national treasure, she sets out to get Astron-otter back with an axe to Scott's face. NASA had given Astron-otter a seat on the rocket, and she was not going to let an opportunity like that go for a second time.

Meanwhile, Jeff's ex-wife Jill (Judy Greer) responds to her proposal from her boyfriend Peter (Justin Kirk) with an astounding 'no.' However, after Jeff explains to her how Peter is her future, she lets Peter know that though it's too soon, she would accept his proposal to propose in the future. Either way, she wears the ring. On a more scarier note, the Listen To Me Pickles doll that Jeff had launched is shut off by the company and an angry parent decides to get revenge on Jeff. The episode does end on this note, so we hope that Jeff and his family are safe but the explosion at the end, suggests otherwise.

This episode was a quick one with the narrative of each character pushed a little bit further but with no concrete details, which means we'll 100% be tuning in for more.

'Kidding' Season 2 airs on Sundays at 10 pm EST on Showtime.
