Former President Donald Trump's recent dinner with Kanye West and Nick Fuentes has sparked widespread criticism

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: Former President Donald Trump's recent dinner with Kanye West and Nick Fuentes has sparked widespread criticism. West was recently seen at Mar-a-Lago with avowed white nationalist and Holocaust denier Fuentes. The rapper sparked controversy in recent weeks with his antisemitic remarks. Fuentes is reportedly the leader of what is known as the Groyper Army. He reportedly holds an annual white nationalist conference as counter-programming to CPAC. 

After news about their dinner surfaced, members of both political parties condemned Trump and called for him to take a stronger stance on antisemitism. Trump claimed he did not know Fuentes and was arranging a meeting request from West. Many, meanwhile, have blasted House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy for his silence regarding the dinner.

'Bonding over antisemitism': Outrage as Kanye West and Nick Fuentes head to Mar-a-Lago to meet Trump

Kevin McCarthy is now vying to become Speaker when the next Congress convenes. He won the House GOP nomination to be Speaker in a 188-31 vote, but to secure the gavel, however, he needs a majority of a floor vote among the full lower chamber.

Social media has slammed McCarthy, citing how he was quick to accuse Ilhan Omar of anti-semitism but has been silent about Trump's meeting with West and Fuentes. McCarthy recently renewed a threat to remove Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee for what he said were “repeated antisemitic and anti-American remarks”.

"#KKKevinMcCarthy was swift to accuse Ilhan Omar of anti-semitism for disagreeing with the Israeli government's seizures in Palestine, but he won't denounce Donald Trump for doing business with a literal neo nazi alt right troll. We defeated McCarthyism before," one user wrote on Twitter. Another said, "Kevin McCarthy can’t denounce Trump’s dinner with known white nationalist Nick Fuentes because if he did, McCarthy would also have to call out his new boss MTG." "Every single elected Republican needs to be asked about this. Anything other than a complete rejection of Fuentes is an embrace of white supremacy and anti-Semitism as far as I'm concerned," said one user. 

"The Republican Party will never renounce antisemites, racists, white supremacists, or nativists. Those are the people who vote for them," one user wrote, while another said, "Kevin is such a coward! How does he think he’ll be speaker? He can never fill @SpeakerPelosi‘s shoes." "Why are these people still in our Congress? They are traitors to Democracy, and all of them, both House and Senate members, need to be removed for their part in the Jan 6th insurrection. I don't care what the repercussions are from the radical right. They need to be removed NOW!" one user said.
