HEBRON, NEW YORK: Kevin Manohan who shot dead Kaylin Gillis after she pulled her car into his driveway by mistake was a professional motorcycle racer. It is reported that the man used to regularly compete in the Camel Pro Series. Interestingly, his wife Polly Jinx, 69, works as a Department of Labor Counselor and advises individuals on how to handle-work related stress.

The victim was searching for a friend’s home and took a wrong turn onto the property of Kevin, 65, through the rural town of Hebron. Gillis, 20, was with her three other friends during the Saturday night shooting, on April 15. As per Washington County Sheriff Murphy, the young woman was just turning the car around when Manohan came onto his porch and fired two shots. The suspect’s attorney Kurt Mausert, said on Monday, April 17, “My preliminary view of this case is that it was a series of errors which resulted in a tragedy. It is too soon to say more than that.”

'My client has no prior criminal convictions'

Mausert told the New York Times that his client has no record of criminal convictions and is an owner of a contracting business in Washington County. The reports show that Manohan lives at his home located along Patterson Hill Road in Salem, New York, with his wife of 35 years, Polly. The latter’s LinkedIn page further states that she ‘specializes,‘ in ‘stress management,’ ‘positivity,’ and ‘optimism.’ Polly has been in her current position since 2009 and had also played other career guidance roles. Moreover, she had been the chairman of the Washington County Youth Advisory Board too.

'She was an innocent young girl'

Zillow reports Kevin and Polly Manohan live in a $310,000 house, built in 2004. Manohan faces a second-degree murder charge and is kept in Warren County jail. As Gillis’ father, Andrew is a corrections officer in the Washington County Jail, authorities decided to keep Manohan in Warren County Jail instead. Sheriff Murphy said during a news conference on Monday that Gillis, who lived in Schuylerville, “was an innocent young girl who was out with friends looking for another friend’s house.”
