The announcement surfaces on the same day as WNBA champ and Australian basketball star Liz Cambage's withdrawal from the Games. On July 15, USA Basketball announced Bradley Beal won't be heading to Tokyo, either.
Kevin Love was in Las Vegas with the team for its tune-up before the Games, but he didn't recover from a right calf injury suffered during the NBA season. Kevin said in a statement, "I am incredibly disappointed to not be heading to Tokyo with Team USA." He added, "But you need to be at absolute peak performance to compete at the Olympic level and I am just not there yet."
