ABERDEEN, MARYLAND: A Maryland woman has been accused of assaulting a 12-year-old student at Aberdeen Middle School who allegedly bullied her daughter. Kelly Sadik entered the school on Tuesday, March 7, at around 8.15 am using an intercom. However, along with her daughter, Sadik went to the classroom instead of going to the school office.

"A verbal confrontation ensued. [Sadik] at one point placed their hands on the child, grabbing them in an effort to continue the conversation," stated captain Will Reiber who added, "Ultimately, a teacher was able to intervene." The furious mother left "a pretty nice-sized red mark and bruise" on the student's arm, said Sgt Jason Neidig, according to New York Post.

'She could have had a weapon'

The attacked student's father Charles Bates said that following the incident, he got a call from the school and was shocked to learn about the attack. "The biggest concern was how quickly she got into the school, she bypassed the office, and then she got a direction location of where my daughter was," said Bates. "She could have had a weapon. She could have had anything. That’s the most frightening part about it," he said, according to WBAL-TV. Sadik was charged with trespassing and second-degree assault.

'We had a parent that decided to break school protocol'

For visitors at school, safety measures are in place and the Aberdeen Middle School staff promptly responded to the mother who broke the protocol, according to Harford County Public Schools. Safety and security chief Donoven Brooks said, "We vet folks that are coming into our schools. Protocol was followed today by our staff. Unfortunately, we had a parent that decided to break protocol."

"Fortunately, we had staff members who immediately identified, through their vigilance, and just knowing the building — that there was something that was not right and immediately stepped in to take action," Donoven added.

Judy Kibler, grandmother of the attacked girl student, said that her granddaughter was also bullied at her school. "It’s not just my granddaughter I’m concerned about, I’m concerned about all these children. If [the school or school district is] doing something, tell us what you’re doing. I’ve asked that question so many times," she told WJZ.

Reiber, who shared that the agency did not have any issues with the security protocols of the school, said, "By and large, the protocols that are put in place by the schools are set to deter people from doing this. This is the first that I can think of where we’ve had to go in for something where a parent came and confronted a child."
