The mother of missing Puerto Rican woman Keishla Marlen Rodriguez Ortiz has confirmed some shocking details about boxer Felix Verdejo. In a series of interviews, Keila Ortiz Rivera spilled the beans about her daughter's relationship with Felix and it may reveal why he is being questioned in her death and disappearance.
Authorities confirmed on Sunday, May 2, that the body they found in San José lagoon belongs to Keishla, who was reported missing the previous week. Felix has been called into questioning by the police and Keila is convinced he is guilty of her daughter's death. The grieving mother has become a symbol of the case, which has attracted widespread local and international attention. As this is the first time the family is appearing in the public eye, not much is known about Keila. We couldn't find a Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn account in her name. We know she lives in Orlando, Florida and flew down to Puerto Rico on Friday, April 30. Despite the horror that has shaken her life, Keila managed to speak to the press and reveal several shocking details about the case.
"Yesterday we spoke at 7:00 am she told me: 'Mommy, Felix is coming to see the pregnancy test, but the blood test.' I told him: 'Girl, be careful', because he had already threatened her not to have the baby, that he has his family, that he is a boxer, that he is a public figure ... About 9:30 a.m. my other girl calls me. 'Mommy, Marlen is not at work, the boss called me.' That for me is super weird, because she (Keishla) is very responsible in her work," she told Elnuevoida on May 1.
"For me, he (Félix Verdejo) is the culprit. 100% is him, him. I can point it out in any court," the grieving mother alleged. She also said that the two were in a relationship for over a decade and she was shocked to learn he did not answer any questions when summoned to the San Juan Criminal Investigation Corps. "When she told him that she was pregnant, there he started threatening her. That if you are going to take them off, that you are going to have an abortion, that if I am a public figure," she added.
In a separate interview, she said, "They killed my daughter and my grandson ... he is the culprit". Keila also confirmed that she confronted Felix directly. "I spoke with Felix and asked him where my daughter was and he told me that he did not know. He was lying to me because I knew my daughter was going to meet him," she said. Keila also spoke to the police, giving a statement on May 1.
