Kayleigh McEnany has slammed CNN after it showed a graphic on-air, saying President Donald Trump is taking part in a “desperate coup attempt.” While covering the violent protests of Wednesday, January 6, against president-elect Joe Biden’s certification, the network presented a chyron ahead of the president's speech at a demonstration presented and it stated, “Soon: Trump to speak to supporters in desperate coup attempt.”

But the White House press secretary did not like the language used and took to Twitter to condemn the channel. “This CNN chyron is unsurprisingly OUTRAGEOUS! Apparently abiding by a constitutional process that Democrats themselves have used is now considered a 'COUP' by the Fake News activists! CNN has become a sad parody of a news network,” she wrote on Twitter. Though CNN has not released any statement regarding McEnany’s statement, several people expressed their views over the whole fiasco.

One user tweeted, “Drama school dropout Jim Acosta must be running the chyron this morning.” Another person said, “No, Kayleigh. The fact he has gathered people together in Washington to encourage and spur them on to political violence is the coup attempt. What's happening in Congress is just pathetic pandering.” “Yes CNN has been a mouthpiece for the Dems for years... a total and complete joke of a tv station.. when I see their cameras I give them my back to look at. When they ask me to be interviewed, I decline,” the third user wrote, while the fourth user commented in a response to the former one, “Yes, Fox Entertainment has been a mouthpiece for the Republicans for years... a total and complete joke of a TV station. When I see cameras, I give them my back to look at.  When they ask me to be interviewed, I decline…”

“What else do you call it when a leader loses the popular vote and the electoral college but demands to be reinstated?” a person asked on Twitter. “It’s going to be a pretty sad resume that states I carried trumps water and licked his boots for 4 years or for however long,” the second one took a dig at McEnany while a user named @AttyErinS added, “Yes they can never remove his accomplishment of playing the most golf games as a president, of being the 1st president leading an insurrection against the government, and the president who lied more than anyone, ever.”

Meanwhile, the brutal protests, which also saw a woman getting fatally shot, have seen 52 people getting arrested so far. People on the internet soon pointed out how different police responses have been towards Black Lives Matter (BLM) protesters and against those trying to disrupt democratic procedures in the Capitol. During the BLM protests in 2020, thousands of people were detained, but the scene is completely different this time.

“Why do there seem not have been ANY arrests by DC and Capitol police? Why were these insurgents not met with the same violence by police as BLM protesters? Where is the justice?!" asked a user on Twitter. “Keep your eyes on the small number of arrests with these Fascist scumbags in DC then compare your notes to what happened on — just the first night — of the BLM protests against the killing of George Floyd. Also keep in mind the amount of National Guard presence then vs now," the second person said.
