'Katy Keene' Episode 9: The series reveals a bit about Pepper Smith and fans are ecstatic

While this episode focused more on Katy Keene's (Lucy Hale) apprenticeship with Guy LaMontagne (Luke Cook) and Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray) rebooting her highschool band 'Josie and the Pussycats', they did give some screen time to Jorge/Ginger Lopez (Jonny Beauchamp) and Pepper Smith (Julia Chan). The series has taken its time revealing Smith as a character and today they dropped a bomb and fans were all for unearthing the socialite's past.

The Big Apple's 'It Girl' is portrayed to be the one that knows people in high places. The socialite and gossip columnist diva has an accent to die for and seems to be the life of the party. The series has hinted that she has lied about her past, and seems to never waver on not revealing her past. In this episode, she is haunted online by a person named Hannah Melvey who has been relentless on exposing the diva on social media. Pepper tries to tame the choppy waters by retaliating until a mugshot of her pops up and then, she decides she has to meet this troll in person.
"PEPPER HAS AN EX WIFE WHAT US GOING ON #KatyKeene," tweeted a fan. Well, according to the internet troll, she hasn't signed the divorce papers. So Pepper has a wife, but according to Pepper, it's her ex-wife.
How about that for a reveal of the past? Pepper has never mentioned a wife or being married to anyone and has always kept up appearances. It was an interesting twist in the narrative to keep her angle of the story quite a shocker even though it got less screen time. "I was on the phone with my friend when the whole Pepper being married thing was revealed and I screamed at the top of my lungs. Now I think that she thinks I’m insane #KatyKeene" tweeted another excited fan. The series seems to be revealing more about Smith in bits and pieces and if they continue to do so in this manner, fans will always tune in to watch - including us.
