GRAND CANYON, ARIZONA: An influencer on TikTok found herself getting into trouble after hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon. Further, a video of the shot posted by her reveals that her golf club followed the ball into the Grand Canyon. The influencer, Katie Sigmond, now faces criminal charges over the stunt.

The incident is said to have occurred on October 26 around Mather Point, according to a statement posted on Facebook by the Grand Canyon Park Service. The Grand Canyon Law Enforcement identified, located, and contacted the individual responsible for the incident, according to the post. While the statement does not mention the individual's name, she has been identified as Katie Sigmond, an influencer with nearly 7 million followers on TikTok, as per New York Post.

"Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?’ On October 26, an individual posted a video to her personal TikTok page showing her hitting a golf ball and throwing a golf club into the canyon near Mather Point. Members of the public helped identify the individual’s social media account," read the statement on Grand Canyon's National Park's Facebook. They added, "On October 27, Grand Canyon Law Enforcement identified, located, and contacted the individual responsible for the incident. Charges and a court appearance for the individual are pending."

The reason for the criminal charges filed against Sigmond is that "throwing objects over the rim of the canyon is not only illegal but can also endanger hikers and wildlife who may be below." The national park posted the original video of the influencer's antics on its Reddit page.

Comments under the video saw viewers express their anger and disappointment at the stunt by the influencer. "Appalling, selfish behavior," rebuked one person, on the other hand, there were many who called for the offender to be banned from the national park. One wrote, "The fine for littering in a National Park is $100 or 3 months imprisonment. Because this was possibly grounds for something more serious (like endangerment of hikers below), I hope she gets hit with the max fine and banned from parks." Another added, "Should be charged with reckless endangerment for the club. The golf ball could hit and seriously injure someone, but that club coming down on your head from that height would absolutely kill."

It seems this is not the first time the influencer has been slammed by the Internet for her reckless antics. A Redditor recognized her to be the same woman who threw a pumpkin down a bowling alley lane.
