Katie Sigmond: Olivia Dunne calls infamous Grand Canyon golfer her 'newest recruit' in sizzling pics
BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA: Olivia Dunne took to Instagram to post pictures with the team’s “newest recruit" Katie Sigmond, days after the LSU’s superstar gymnast posted a season-high road score for a victory against Alabama. In a picture posted to her Instagram story, Dunne was seen posing with Sigmond at the gym. The photo is captioned, "Our newest recruit @kaiesigmond".
Dunne, considered one of the most influential college athletes, has continued to gain followers and fans in recent months. At an event in January, Dunne was in the midst of a wild scene wherein unruly fans chanted for her throughout the contest. At the time, Dunne requested her fans to “be respectful” of the gymnastics community. “I will always appreciate and love the support from you guys, but if you come to a meet, I want to ask you to please be respectful of the other gymnasts and the gymnastics community as we are just doing our job,” she tweeted at the time.

Who is Katie Sigmond?
Katie Sigmond, 20, is an influencer and a TikToker with more than three million followers on Instagram. She regularly shares photos and videos of herself playing golf, flaunting her fitness regime and motorbike riding. Around the same time that Dunne posted an image with Sigmond, she too took to instagram to post one with Dunne. “Oh hey @livvydunne,” Sigmond captioned a photo of the two of them from the Tigers’ dressing room.
Sigmond reportedly has an OnlyFans account, but she focuses more on her YouTube career. "I want people to know me for my personality versus just my looks," she said on the 'Money Buys Happiness' podcast in the past.
Katie Sigmond's Grand Canyon controversy
In 2022, Sigmond was fined after she shared a video of herself hitting a golf ball into the Grand Canyon. The video of the incident went viral across social media platforms, including Reddit. She was eventually fined $285 and paid the debt on November 15, 2022.
Sigmond got involved in the controversy even as the National Park Service's website clearly enumerated the dangers of throwing objects into the Grand Canyon. "Never throw rocks, coins, trash, or anything else over the edge," the website says, adding, "Objects tossed over the edge or dislodged by walking off trail can injure hikers and wildlife below, or start landslides."
Sigmond was reportedly initially charged with littering and disorderly conduct. However, the case was later resolved outside of court and she was handed a fine. In a Facebook post shared at the time, Grand Canyon National Park wrote, "Do we really need to say, ‘don’t hit golf balls into the Grand Canyon?"
On October 26, 2022, an individual posted a video to her personal TikTok page showing her hitting a golf ball and throwing a golf club into the canyon near Mather Point. Members of the public helped identify the individual’s social media account. On October 27, 2022, Grand Canyon Law Enforcement identified, located and contacted the individual responsible for the incident. Charges and a court appearance for the individual are pending.
