Katie Holmes spotted wearing $520 cashmere bra in New York while shopping with daughter Suri Cruise
Actress Katie Holmes celebrated the transition from summer to the Fall by pairing a cashmere bra underneath a barely buttoned sweater while on an outing with her daughter, Suri Cruise on August 27.
She was photographed in the $520 barley-colored Khaite bandeau, which was partially covered by a matching $1,540 "Scarlet" sweater as she shopped her heart out in Soho. The taupe cashmere “Eda” bralette was from Khaite’s pre-fall 2019 collection, which the 40-year-old mother-of-one paired with blue jeans, Acne Studios black mules, black Westward Leaning “Moore 03” sunglasses, gold jewelry and a black bag. A messy bun added to her perfect look.
An hour after Khaite New York had posted a picture of the "Dawson’s Creek” star wearing their brand's lingerie, every unit of their “Eda” bra had been sold out. A representative of the fashion brand also confirmed to The Cut that Holmes had purchased the set herself after stylist Jeanne Yang introduced her to the line of clothing.
Khaite founder and creative director Catherine Holstein told the outlet that while the bra looked small, it “easily stretches” over various cup sizes when one puts it on. As for such a strong response from consumers after seeing Katie model it out in the open, Holstein said that the reason was "obvious."
“I want everything in cashmere,” she said. “I want a cashmere house. Why not a bra? I have been making cashmere bras for two years now and really believed that people would catch on eventually. Thank you Katie!”
“Eat your heart out, Jamie Foxx!” wrote one commenter on Khaite's post, referencing to Katie's recent split with actor Jamie Foxx.
Although Jamie and Katie had been romantically linked since 2013, they had never officially confirmed their relationship in an effort to keep it private. The couple was last seen together at the Met Gala on May 6.
Recently, Jamie was spotted holding hands with singer Sela Vave as the two left Bootsy Bellows nightclub in Los Angeles on August 16. On the same day, an eyewitness told Page Six that Katie had been overheard telling a friend at La Esquina restaurant that she and Foxx “haven’t been together for months." Other reports suggested that the couple stopped seeing each other in May.
