Texas parents arrested after children found covered in feces in 'house of horrors'
TYLER, TEXAS: Smith County Sheriff’s Office deputies on December 22 arrested and charged Katelynn Schengeli on four counts of child endangerment, it has been reported. A day later, Schengeli's partner Cory Evans was also charged after police made a shocking discovery at their home. After a 911 call by the eldest child, police found four children including an infant covered in feces inside an "extremely dirty" residence.
The shocking discovery, which some local newspapers have dubbed a "house of horrors" is reminiscent of the shocking discovery in Houston, where in late October Gloria Williams was arrested after police discovered three children living alone with the rotting corpse of their brother Kendrick Lee. In that case, it was found that WIlliams' boyfriend Brian Coulter had beaten Lee to death. The stunning discovery is just one of the many police have made this year.

It appears Schengeli and Williams share a lot in common, with both moms apparently ignoring their kids in favor of other ventures. Schengeli's four children have now been placed "in a safe living environment," the Sheriff's Office confirmed, while she and Evans are currently in jail.
Who are Katelynn Schengeli and Cory Evans?
Little is known about that two parents, beyond the case in which they have been arrested. Evans is believed to be Schengeli's boyfriend, and the father of the infant and four-year-old twin girls. The father of the eight-year-old boy who called 911 is not known at the moment. We couldn't find any social media profiles for either Schengeli or Evans, so it's unclear where they worked or what they did for a living.
On December 22, the eldest child dialed 911 after Schengeli passed out after consuming alcohol. That led EMS to arrive at the residence, where they found an infant in a crib next to her bed. The child was reportedly covered in feces spilling out of its diaper and screaming. First responders also found the twins locked in a room, with one sleeping on the floor without any clothes on. The other was "screaming for water".
After providing basic care for the children, Child Protective Services was called in, while Schengeli was taken into custody. "The residence was extremely dirty and had a very potent odor of feces emitting from each of the rooms," described a spokesperson for the Sheriff's Office. The twins and infant were judged to be malnourished and taken to a local hospital for evaluation.
Schengeli is currently being held on four charges of child endangerment, as is Evans. It's unclear what Schengeli's bond has been set at, but according to reports, the bond has been set at $50,000 for each charge for Evans. More details are expected in the coming days, as the couple is produced in court.
