JEFFERSON COUNTY, ALABAMA: Kamille ‘Cupcake’ McKinney case is all set to go under the hammer from today in federal court in Birmingham. The 2019 incident that sent shockwaves in the entire Alabama state will be heard from today as one of the two suspects, Patrick Stallworth, 42, is to be given a sentence.

He along with Derick Irisha Brown, 32, are both held guilty under federal for kidnapping and conspiracy to kidnap a minor. However, Brown’s trial is to begin on Monday, November 14 at a federal court in Tuscaloosa. Both suspects already have been charged with capital murder in state court.

It was on October 12, 2019, during a birthday party in Tom Brown Village, when Kamille was kidnapped. The city frantically searched for the missing child, until her remains were discovered at the Jefferson County landfill on the night of October 22 in a trash dumpster.

An autopsy conducted by the local authorities found asphyxiation by suffocation as the cause of her death. It was revealed that the toxic presence of methamphetamine and the antidepressant Trazodone was in high quantities. The level of these substances in Kamille made experts conclude that she wasn’t exposed to them but instead ingested the drugs.

According to suspect Brown, she had seen Patrick Stallworth "kneeling on the sofa in front of Kamille and forcing the gild to perform oral sex on him." On the other hand, Stallworth claims he walked into the couple’s apartment and saw his girlfriend Brow sitting on the couch with Kamille, and said to him, “That’s not your child,” insisting to “do something sexual to the child.” The entire trial is expected to go on for at least a week, as the Jury selection has begun this morning against the 42-year-old accused.

“The kidnapping of a child is one of a parent's biggest fears. Despite their best efforts, federal, state, and local law enforcement were not able to bring the three-year-old victim home to her family,” Lloyd C. Peeples, First Assistant United States Attorney, had said when the two suspects were held guilty by the federal court in July for kidnapping. She added, “However, we hope that today's charges will be a step towards bringing justice for her and her family.”
