The grieving mother further said, “I am desperate. I am trying not to lose hope." She added, “He commented to me that his dad wanted to take him to live on a farm with windmills and he wanted me to go with him." A private investigator named Joe Carillo has also been involved in the investigation. Concepcion spoke to the duo and pleaded, "'Please rethink what you did. You know things aren’t going your way. Do the right thing."
Miami-Dade police believe the child, his father, and 68-year-old grandmother should be around Maine or in some parts of Eastern Canada and have requested anyone with information to contact them.
In a recent report by Local 10, authorities are offering a huge reward of $10K as the search continues for the six-year-old. An amber alert was issued to find the child on September 2, 2022. His mother spoke to CBS News and said, "I hope that my baby knows that I'm looking for him. That I'm here." Further, she added, "I just want to wake up and realize this is a nightmare. Every time I close my eyes, I feel his little hands."
A recent Facebook video by the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children read, "VEHICLE ABANDONED IN MAINE MAY BE LINKED TO #MISSING 6-YEAR-OLD #FLORIDA CHILD The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) is asking for the public’s help with the case of 6-year-old Jorge “Jo-Jo” Morales, missing from Miami, Florida. Investigators with Miami-Dade Police say an abandoned vehicle in Littleton, Maine was found with personal items that are believed to be related to the child."
The post continued, "“This is an #AMBERAlert that has received little media attention until now,” said Angeline Hartmann, NCMEC Communications Director. “We’re asking people to focus in on the two adults in this case. If you keep a watch out for either of them, little Jo-Jo will likely be nearby.”
Further, it added, "Jo-Jo vanished on Aug. 27, in Miami-Dade County. Police believe he was abducted by his father, 45-year-old Jorge Morales and his paternal grandmother, 68-year-old Lilliam Peña Morales. Both now face a felony charge of custodial interference. Investigators believe Jo-Jo, his father, and his grandmother could now be in Maine or eastern Canada."
The post explained, "Jo-Jo’s mother, Yanet Leal Concepcion, says her son is on the autism spectrum and has difficulty communicating sometimes. Leal-Concepcion says she and Jo-Jo’s father shared custody for the last few years but she had feared that he had been planning this abduction."
It concluded by stating, "She says Jorge talked about living off the grid and had been using only cash to pay for his expenses over the last year in preparation for that. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call NCMEC at 1-800-843-5678 or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477."
