Charlamagne was asking the VP why she and President Biden were unable to press their flagship $1.75 trillion Build Back Better legislation

Vice President Kamala Harris lashed out at radio host Charlamagne Tha God for asking if Joe Biden was the 'real president' during her appearance on his talk show. On his Comedy Central show on Friday, December 17, Charlamagne asked the VP why she and President Joe Biden were unable to press their flagship $1.75 trillion Build Back Better legislation.

His incessant line of questioning angered Harris so much that her aide, Symone Sanders, stepped in front of the camera, saying that they had to end the interview and leave immediately.  "They're acting like they can't hear me," the 43-year-old host said, as Sanders attempted to block the camera and stop the interview.

Looking serious, Harris stared at Charlamagne and replied: "I can hear you." At this point, Charlamagne repeated his question. "So who's the real president of this country? Is it Joe Manchin or Joe Biden?" he asked, to which Harris replied, "Come on, Charlamagne. Come on. It's Joe Biden." When Charlamagne commented, saying, "I can't tell sometimes," Harris visibly bristled. She wagged her finger at the host and said, "No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's Joe Biden, and don't start talking like a Republican about asking whether or not he's president. And it's Joe Biden. And I'm vice president and my name is Kamala Harris."

Biden's failure to convince Manchin to vote for the $1.75 trillion domestic investment program

Charlamagne's frustration was rooted in the fact that Biden was unable to convince West Virginia Senator Manchin to vote for his $1.75 trillion domestic investment program and major election reforms, which had a self-imposed Christmas deadline. Manchin's stubborn refusal to back the government's plans put in jeopardy the continuation of an expanded child tax credit for some 3.6 million poor families, which expires on December 31.

Harris told Charlamagne on Friday that the administration had already achieved a list of policies and plans. "I hear the frustration. but let's not deny the impact that we've had, and agree also that there is a whole lot more work to be done. And it is not easy to do, but we will not give up. And I will not give up," she concluded. Charlamagne replied: "I just want you to know, Madame Vice President, that Kamala Harris, that's the one I like. That's the one that was putting the pressure on people in Senate hearings. That's the one I'd like to see more often out here in these streets."

'VP ate Charlemagne up'

The clip of the exchange went viral on Twitter and people came up with all kinds of mixed reactions. While some of them praised Harris for going off on Charlamagne, others thought that the host's line of questioning was apt. "When a black woman adjusts her seat and gets into the 'let me tell you one gotdamn thing' pose you know you've gone too far. she was really restrained here," one of them said, while another noted, "Whew! @VP ate Charlemagne up! 'It’s Joe Biden, and I'm Vice President, and my name is Kamala Harris.' Stop playing with her." A third wrote, "I like how Kamala Harris went off on Charlemagne the god that was cute now she needs to keep that same energy with Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema but we know she won’t."

One more commented, "Kamala Harris going on a Charlemagne TV show to have him disrespect her is us actually living in the movie Idiocracy." The next remarked, "Majority of older Black people are super ok with 'representation' democrats haven’t done shit for us in the last 25 years but they screaming 'Yas sis' cause Kamala Harris started yelling and Charlemagne." Another noted, ".@VP gathered his ass with receipts and said put some respect on our names." One more said, "Charlemagne asked Kamala Harris a 100% legit question, and Kamala went into this performative 'sista gurl' act as a deflection. And now the Bidensexuals are trying to spin this as if she 'gathered' Charlemagne."

A commenter tweeted, "She went back to her Senate hearing days on ole Charlamagne." Another said, "Kamala Harris yelling at Charlemagne because he asked her if Joe Biden us really running things during their interview is absolutely hilarious.. his question is 100% valid and for her to yell and deflect is very telling. Bunch of dorks in the political world it’s sad." A person reacted with, "Reecie…did you see the @VP gather Charlemagne up like the boss she is. Ya’ll must have forgotten who Kamala Harris is. She doesn’t play the Vice President on TV…she IS the Vice President of the United States. Don’t get it twisted. #SkeeWee."
