Two blasts including one suicide bombing near Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan killed at least 60 people, including foreigners and children. Officials reported that at least 13 US troops are amongst the 73 killed and 140 are reportedly injured. Far-right columnist, Todd Starnes faced the ire of the Internet and was called out for his 'xenophobic' tweet following the blasts.

Starnes wrote on Twitter, "For every American who is killed, a city in Afghanistan should be wiped off the face of the Earth." The journalist faced severe backlash for his tweet as people called him 'rabid troll' who 'specializes in outrage clickbait'. Reportedly, the explosion took place outside the Kabul airport hours before the evacuation deadline of August 27.

A third blast was heard at the airport hours after the earlier two, reports say. A US official noted that the first blast was caused by a suicide bomber, and further reports suggested that the second explosion was a car bomb. Pentagon spokesman John Kirby informed that the explosions struck "outside" the perimeter of Hamid Karzai International Airport at an entrance known as Abbey Gate.

'Todd Starnes advocating for crimes against humanity'

Starnes was trolled on Twitter for his 'xenophobic' tweet. One user wrote, "Just Todd Starnes advocating for crimes against humanity." Another commented, "Todd so if ISIS kills an American we should kill 100,000 Afghans who are not part of ISIS. Seriously that is your thinking and your pastors correct? What church do you attend that supports this?" One tweet read, "Hardened warrior Todd Starnes will no doubt carry this task out himself." Another user wrote, "For every anti vaxxer I wanna punch Todd starnes in the nuts," Another tweet read, "Please don’t even think Todd Starnes represents how most Americans think. He’s been a rabid troll for years. He specializes in outrage clickbait and it’s disgusting he still has an audience of any size." One user commented, "Dear Lord. Please forgive people like Todd Starnes. They claim to speak as your followers. When in reality, they are the people you warned us about."

One tweet read, "I’m angry and grieved at the situation in #Afghanistan. I’m angry at Biden and Trump. But I completely abhor and disavow this genocidal, unhinged statement below from religionist troll Todd Starnes. He wants to murder innocent Afghan citizens who have suffered so much? Dear God." Another user tweeted, "Well if what Todd Starnes said is any indication, one American’s life is apparently worth more than an entire city of Afghans. It stands to reason that such ugly sentiments would spill out for the last licks."
