A home healthcare nurse in Michigan has been charged with the murder of a 3-year-old girl who died in her care, according to officials. Jail logs demonstrate Judith Sobol, 42, is accused of second-degree murder and methamphetamine possession.

According to the police, the nurse who arrived at work after a four-day meth binge was responsible for caring for the child who later died on Monday, June 20. After arriving for her shift while still under the influence of the drug, Sobol has been charged with second-degree murder, according to WNDU. Around 2:30 am, Coloma police responded to calls reporting that the toddler was unresponsive and had gone "blue". When they arrived, cops saw the toddler's parents attempting to resuscitate the child, who had a number of medical issues and had lost her breathing tube. Sobol has also been charged for losing the important tube.

The 42-year-old nurse was "incoherent and mumbling" when police discovered her close to the child. According to police records, Sobol "should not have come to work at all" since she was "not in the right state of mind to be there." According to Too Fab, the nurse said that the breathing tube may have detached while she was cleaning it, and that she "probably passed out or fell asleep," after which the kid was rushed to the hospital, where physicians discovered the breathing tube tangled in her hair.

Coloma Township police chief Wes Smigielski told LADbible: “Through an investigation, the officers found out that was the registered nurse that was supposed to care for the child throughout the night. After the investigation was completed, we determined that she was high on methamphetamines and should not have been in care of that child.”

Police said they had taken out a little container from Sobol's handbag, and it was filled with meth and two pipes. Sobol allegedly acknowledged using meth four days in a row as well as becoming high the day she was summoned to work to watch the toddler. The police chief described how the harmful chemical was becoming more and more prevalent in Michigan town.

“Methamphetamine is getting worse around here," Smigielski told LADbible. "We do a lot of cases of it. This is the first in my career --of this nature -- of someone using meth and doing this kind of act. Usually, it’s an at-home thing, or they’re in their own car, but they’re not taking care of a 3-year-old." Sobol's next court date is Wednesday, June 29, and she is now being detained at the Berrien County Jail under a $500,000 bail.
